FIA Formula Regional European Championship officially gets underway with the opening pre-season test at Hockenheim, scheduled for today, Tuesday, 24 March, and for Wednesday.

Van Amersfoort Racing has confirmed its driver line-up for the 2026 FIA Formula Regional European Championship, with Dion Gowda set to return alongside newcomers Andrea Dupe and Francisco Macedo.
 

It was a weekend to remember for Van Amersfoort Racing, as the Dutch squad celebrated its 50th anniversary in style with a commanding one-two finish on home soil in Race 2 of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

Freddie Slater delivered a commanding performance in the opening race of the weekend at Zandvoort, securing his second victory of the season in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. The Prema Racing driver executed a textbook start, overtaking pole-sitter Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing) with a decisive move and controlling the race from start to finish. His strong pace and confidence with the car confirmed his excellent form as he crossed the line first on the Dutch circuit.

It was a perfect start to the day for Van Amersfoort Racing on home soil, as Pedro Clerot delivered a standout performance to secure his first-ever pole position in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. The Brazilian driver mastered the evolving track conditions at Zandvoort, where the session began on a damp surface due to earlier rainfall and gradually transitioned to slick tyres as the circuit dried.

Young driver Noah Wolfe continues to demonstrate his versatility at the highest level. Competing at Viterbo in Round 3 of the Champions of the Future Euro Series, he finished a solid 5th in the OK category, despite a technical problem in the Super Heat, which put the brakes on his ambitions.
 

Alex will be joining the team in the Italian Formula 4 Championship, the E4 Championship and the last round of the Formula Winter Series. Aleksander Ruta, born on August 6, 2008, in Warsaw, Poland, started karting only three years ago.

Hiyu’s motorsport journey started on the karting circuits at 8 years old, competing in various karting championships. He gained valuable experience in the karting field with one of his highlights finishing 2nd overall in the IAME Series Japan – X30 Junior in 2020. Since joining VAR for the Italian F4 and Euro 4 Championships in 2024, Hiyu has shown his resilience on track, delivering consistently strong performances. He was among one of the top contenders in both championships, claiming a total of 11 podiums, 4 wins, 3 pole positions, and 4 fastest laps.
 

In Barcelona, during the first of the 3 races in the penultimate round of the Italian F.4 Championship, Freddie Slater from Prema Racing claimed his twelfth win of the season, coming within a hair’s breadth of securing the title. With US Racing’s Akshay Bohra stalling on pole at the start, the only driver to keep the fight alive until Sunday was Hiyu Yamakoshi from Van Amersfoort Racing.
