Sebastian Wheldon emerged as the fastest across the two Free Practice sessions that opened the Zandvoort weekend. At the Dutch venue, which hosts the second round of the FIA Formula Regional European Championship, the MP Motorsport driver set the overall quickest time in the morning with a lap of 1:30.114 that no one could improve on later in the day as afternoon temperatures rose.

Sebastian Wheldon emerged fastest in the opening Free Practice session at Zandvoort after setting the pace on Friday morning at the Dutch venue, which hosts the second round of the eight-event FIA Formula Regional European Championship season this weekend.

The FIA Formula Regional European Championship weekend at Zandvoort got underway today with the two official collective tests. The Dutch venue welcomed all 30 drivers competing in the second round of the championship, with the field amassing a total of 1,343 laps throughout the day. Italian F4 Championship leader after the opening round is Alp Aksoy (Prema Racing), who came close to a perfect scorecard at the Misano World Circuit. With two victories and a third-place finish, the Turkish driver collected 82 out of the 90 points available and became the first championship leader of the 2026 season.

Qualifying for the opening round of the Italian F4 Championship at the Misano World Circuit has come to an end. Luka Sammalisto, the Finnish driver for US Racing, set the fastest overall time with a 1’35.492 lap, securing pole position for Race 2 and Race 3 at the head of Group A. The 2026 season of the Italian F4 Championship, the single-seater series promoted by ACI Sport and WSK Promotion, gets underway with record-breaking numbers. After the previous record set at Monza in 2022 with 44 cars on the grid, the championship has already surpassed that mark: 47 single-seaters ready to take to the track on Thursday for the collective tests ahead of the opening round of the season at the Misano circuit on the Adriatic Riviera.

Elite Motorsport’s Fred Green and Douglas Motorsport’s Dayton Coulthard were the winners as the GB4 Championship’s season-opening weekend at Silverstone came to a conclusion.

Reno Francot rounded off the opening Red Bull Ring round of the FIA Formula Regional European Championship by taking victory in a dramatic Race 3, which saw the safety car deployed four times. The Dutch driver for CL Motorsport, who had already secured a podium in Saturday’s second race, also moved to the top of the Drivers’ standings, capitalising on the retirement of the polesitter and Race 1 winner Kean Nakamura-Berta (Prema Racing). Gabriel Gomez finished seventh for Rodin Motorsport, securing victory in the Rookie class.

Kean Nakamura-Berta has become the first-ever pole-sitter in the history of the FIA Formula Regional European Championship. The Prema Racing driver was the overall fastest across the two groups that took to the track at the Red Bull Ring in the opening qualifying session of the season, when he clocked 1:25.765. Alongside him on the front row for the first of the weekend’s three races will be Rashid Al Dhaheri (R-ace GP), who set the pace in the second group with a 1:25.951.
