The FIA World KZ Championship at Le Mans saw CRG claim its 28th World Title, in a landmark year celebrating the 40th anniversary of the brand’s foundation. Viktor Gustafsson delivered a perfect weekend for the CRG Racing Team, starting with an outstanding pole position in qualifying, setting the fastest time in all three sectors.

The most important event of the season for the Shifter categories, the FIA Karting World Championships for KZ, KZ2 and KZ2 Masters, takes place this week, from 17 to 20 September at the Le Mans circuit in France. Located in the Loire region and world-famous for the circuit that hosts the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, the city will become the capital of international karting as the most prestigious titles of the year in the three KZ categories are decided.

The World Championship event in Franciacorta will undoubtedly remain one of the most memorable FIA Karting events of recent years. All the ingredients were there: ideal weather conditions for the season in northern Italy, a magnificent field of 250 drivers, non-stop action on the track, a large audience around the track and watching the live stream, and superb organisation masterfully led by the Franciacorta Karting Track team. Three drivers enjoyed a great first. Dutchman Senna Van Walstijn won the Mondokart.com FIA Karting World Championship - KZ, Maksim Orlov dominated the FIA Karting World Cup - KZ2 and Angelo Lombardo held off Davide Fore in the FIA Karting International Super Cup - KZ2 Masters.

Three drivers were smiling broadly from the podium in Sarno at the end of the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship. Pedro Hiltbrand, who had already won the opening race in Spain, is in an excellent position in the overall KZ standings ahead of the final competition in Germany in July. In KZ2, Maksim Orlov is in exactly the same situation, after his comprehensive domination in the Final at the foot of Vesuvius. In KZ2 Masters, the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship was held over a single competition. Antonio Piccioni emerged victorious after a last lap with many twists and turns.

From June 19th to 22nd, 2025, the KZ2 Masters category will be added to the programme. This Championship will be contested over a single competition. A total of 125 Drivers are entered.

The second official day of competition, which saw the end of the Qualifying Heats and the first Super Heats, took place in stifling heat on the Naples International Circuit. For four days, the Algarve International Karting Circuit in Portimao vibrated to the rhythm of the KZ, KZ2 and KZ Master karts at a meeting eagerly awaited by competitors. The drivers and teams were able to work in a variety of weather conditions, gathering a wealth of data and gaining a much better understanding of the Portimao track. Many of the drivers were taking part in a Champions of the Future event for the first time and appreciated the professionalism of the organisation put in place by RGMMC. On a warm and sunny day of southern Portugal, Frenchman Jérémy Iglesias won the KZ class, Romanian Daniel Vasile won the KZ2 class and Frenchman Anthony Abbasse dominated the KZ Master class.

Danilo Albanese put up a tough fight in July in Spain to claim 2nd place with the fastest lap of the race in his high-performance KR-IAME. Motivated by the idea of retaining his FIA Karting European KZ Championship crown when he arrived at the Val Vibrata circuit for the finale of this highly-anticipated event, the Italian driver immediately demonstrated his competitiveness by taking pole position. Unfortunately, his title hopes were dashed at the first corner of the first heat! However, the team's overall result in Abruzzo means that KR Motorsport remains in contention for the team title in 2024.

The final stages of the second and last round of the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship - KZ, KZ2 & KZ2 Masters were the scene of some exciting racing with its share of surprises. David Trefilov (DEU) won the KZ Final, while Lorenzo Travisanutto (ITA) was crowned champion, Maksim Orlov took victory in KZ2 ahead of new champion Matteo Spirgel (FRA), while Riccardo Nalon (ITA) won the KZ2 Masters title.

The European final for gearbox karts will take place on very different terrain to the first event. Val Vibrata is a classic 1,286m track with three tight hairpins, regularly used by the ACI Karting Italian Championship.
