A new Winter Series. Three days focused on racing.

RGMMC will launch the Champions of the Future Winter Series in 2027, introducing a three-day concept running from Thursday to Saturday. Its inaugural season will take place across three rounds in Spain, bringing together Mini GR3 U10, Mini GR3, OK Junior and OK with CIK-FIA homologated equipment.

The new series puts the focus on racing while reducing the time spent away from home. A shorter event allows drivers, families and teams to plan a more compact trip, with substantial track time delivered through a focused programme. It also gives teams more time between events to prepare, develop and improve.

A complete race weekend, in three days

Thursday will be dedicated to free practice, followed by qualifying practice and heats on Friday. Saturday brings the Super Heats and Finals, completing the full competition programme within three days.

The aim is greater efficiency without compromising the quality of competition. Bringing the programme together from Thursday to Saturday reduces the overall time commitment and supports the wider ambition of making karting more accessible, sustainable and attractive to participants.

Two new Mini classes join OK Junior and OK

For the first time in Champions of the Future, Mini GR3 U10 and Mini GR3 will compete as two separate classes. Each will run as its own single-group category, with a complete programme of qualifying practice, heats, a Super Heat and a Final.

Entries will be limited to 36 drivers in each Mini class and 72 drivers each in OK Junior and OK. These caps are designed to avoid excessive numbers of groups and keep the timetable focused, allowing all four classes to complete their racing within the new three-day format.

The thinking behind the change

“Many people ask why we are moving to a three-day race format. The answer is simple: if we genuinely want to reduce costs and increase interest and participation in our sport, we need to look at how much time is being spent at the track."

“Today, race weekends can consume an enormous amount of time—not only for drivers, but also for their families, teams and the many people working within the industry. Teams need more time to prepare, develop and improve, while drivers and their families need the opportunity to have a life outside of racing."

“The new three-day format is designed to be more efficient without compromising the quality of competition. It provides drivers with a substantial amount of track time while reducing the overall time commitment for everyone involved. We believe this is an important step towards making our sport more sustainable, accessible and attractive for the future.” - James Geidel, CEO, RGMMC Group

Round 1 — A world-class opening in Andalucía

4–6 February | KartCenter Campillos, Spain

The Winter Series begins in inland Málaga province, surrounded by the landscapes of Andalucía. KartCenter Campillos hosted the 2021 FIA Karting World Championship, giving the opening round a setting with serious international pedigree. Its long straights, fast corners and changes in elevation challenge drivers to carry momentum while placing the kart precisely—a demanding introduction to the season for all four classes.

Away from the paddock, the nearby Caminito del Rey offers a spectacular walk through the gorges around El Chorro, making this an appealing stop for visitors extending their racing trip. February typically brings chilly mornings and milder afternoons to Campillos, but rain is still possible.

Round 2 — A fresh challenge in Aragón

25–27 February | Circuito Internacional de Zuera, Spain

Round 2 takes the paddock north to Aragón, near Zaragoza, where Zuera enters a new chapter following its 2026 renovation. Fresh asphalt and revised corners bring a different rhythm to this established international venue. A new sweeping right-hander after the first turn connects to the familiar open left, while a tighter final right introduces another braking point before the main straight. Drivers will need to rediscover their references and balance speed with precision as the Winter Series gathers momentum.

Nearby Zaragoza offers a memorable break from the racing, with the Basilica del Pilar and its Goya frescoes overlooking the city’s historic centre. Late February remains winter here: regional February averages are around 13°C for daytime highs. Cool opening sessions could give way to more comfortable afternoons, adding another element for teams to manage throughout the weekend.

Round 3 — Precision meets Mediterranean character

4–6 March | Kartódromo Internacional Lucas Guerrero, Spain

The Winter Series concludes at Kartódromo Internacional Lucas Guerrero in Chiva, inland to the west of Valencia. The circuit’s technical corner sequences place particular emphasis on driver skill and kart setup, making it a fitting final challenge after Campillos and Zuera. Finding a consistent rhythm, linking corners cleanly and getting the kart working through the technical sections will be central to finishing the three-round campaign strongly.

Visitors can combine the finale with Valencia’s historic centre, local cuisine and the striking City of Arts and Sciences. March usually brings a milder feel to the region, with average daytime highs near 19°C at Valencia Airport, although inland Chiva can be cooler. Sunshine is part of the seasonal appeal, a taste of approaching spring rather than a guarantee of summer conditions.
