Belgium hosts round 1 of the Euro KZ–KZ2 from May 21 to 24

The CRG Racing Team is ready for another challenge in the 2026 karting season: the FIA European Championship KZ–KZ2. The continental series for the Shifter categories will be contested over two rounds, with Round 1 taking place this weekend at the Genk circuit in Belgium. The second and final event will be held in Italy at Sarno on 5 July.

The KZ categories have always been a core pillar of CRG’s sporting programme, and the chassis developed for these classes remains a key strategic asset from a commercial standpoint as well. The CRG Road Rebel chassis is among the most recognised and successful in KZ competition, and once again in 2026, it will be one of the benchmark packages on track. CRG will compete in both categories, fielding official drivers Viktor Gustafsson and Adrian Malheiro Suñe in the premier KZ class. In KZ2, the squad lines up with a highly ambitious seven-driver roster: Samuel and Jean Luyet, Daniel Maciá, Patrick Ogrodowczyk, Nico Lemberg, Menyhert Krozser, and Alois Girardet. Last week’s testing sessions confirmed the strong potential of the CRG drivers in both categories, with expectations now running high heading into the opening round.

As per FIA Karting event format, the weekend schedule will feature free practice on Thursday, qualifying and the opening heats on Friday, followed by a full day of heat races on Saturday. Sunday will host the Super Heats and Finals. With the championship decided over just two rounds, scoring heavily in Genk will be crucial. The goal is to arrive in Sarno for the home event still firmly in contention for the title. From a technical perspective, CRG confirms its ongoing partnership with TM for engine supply in 2026, while tyre supply throughout the championship will be provided by Le Cont.

Team Principal Jeremy Iglesias commented on the start of this important campaign:

“FIA racing in the KZ categories is starting again, and from both a sporting and commercial perspective, it represents the main target for every factory team. Given my racing background, I have a special connection with KZ, and I’m really looking forward to this new challenge. I believe the entire team has worked well during early-season races and testing, and the new drivers have had time to adapt and build confidence with the material and technical staff. In this sporting and technical challenge, TM will also play an important role at our side, and we are very pleased with the work carried out together during the preparation phase. We have strong ambitions and drivers capable of fighting at the front in both categories. In KZ, Viktor will bring us experience and speed, while Adrian has also shown strong potential and can be very competitive. In KZ2, we have also received very positive feedback from testing, so now it’s time to put everything together and aim for a strong race weekend.”
