The weather at Val d'Argenton proved extremely changeable during the Qualifying Heats of the second Competition of the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior and the first Competition of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

Matheus Morgatto continued his fine form by taking his Birel ART chassis in the colours of the CL Racing Team to 5th place in the Champions of the Future Euro Series at the Val d'Argenton circuit in France, while Mees Houben climbed back into the top 10.

Following on from Birel ART's excellent performances in OK since the start of the season, Matheus Morgatto - CL Racing Team took 5th place in the standings at the end of the first round of the European Championship in Valencia, Spain. Noah Wolfe - VAR by Birel concluded with a strong Final climb of 11 places, while Ean Eyckmans - Birel ART Racing qualified in 5th position for the Final.

Sunday's opening round of the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior in Valencia lived up to all its promises, with spectacular and intense races rewarding some excellent drivers. The winners Gabriel Gomez (ITA) in OK and Dries van Langendonck (BEL) in Junior also lead the provisional standings in their respective categories.

The 2024 Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship in the OK and OK-Junior categories is already shaping up to be a great success. Poleman Gomez (BRA) held on to top spot after the OK Qualifying Heats in Valencia, while Turney (GBR) held off a spirited comeback. Schaufler (AUT) dominated the OK-Junior against Van Langendonck (BEL).

The opening event will take place in Spain at the Kartódromo Internacional Lucas Guerrero in Valencia from 21st to 24th March.

Birel ART's improved competitiveness in OK this season was confirmed at the first round of the Champions of the Future - Euro Series in Valencia. Despite changing grip conditions during the Final stages and a number of penalties, the improvement was clear for Ean Eyckmans, 5th in the Final after gaining 11 places, as well as for Noah Wolfe (VAR by Birel) 7th after moving up 14 places and also for Martti Ritonen who was able to gain 19 places.

Birel ART Racing's excellent start to the season came to fruition in Sarno with very positive results in the WSK Super Master Series. Despite wet and changeable weather conditions for the Final stages, Ean Eyckmans took a convincing victory in OK that confirmed him as the series' 2024 champion, while Cristian Bertuca brilliantly secured the KZ2 title.

The 2024 titles went to Schaufler (OKJ), Eyckmans (OK), Cosma Cristofor (OKNJ), Perico (MINI U10), Calleja (MINI Gr.3) and Bertuca (KZ2). 

With still 140 points up for grabs in the final stages, all can still happen in all the categories.

After the morning qualifying sessions, the first day of competition at the International Circuit Napoli in Sarno continued with the first series of heats in the categories MINI Gr.3, MINI U10, OKJ, OK, OKNJ, and KZ2. The heats will conclude on Friday to determine the finalists who will compete for the category titles on Saturday, with live TV and live streaming coverage.

Qualifying practice highlighted the initial protagonists of MINI Gr.3, MINI U10, OKJ, OK, OKNJ and KZ2. The grand finale is on Saturday, March 2nd.

The event is promising a spectacular conclusion to the 2024 championship. So far, the competition has been intense in the MINI Gr.3, MINI U10, OKJ, OK, OKNJ, and KZ2 categories.
