Sebastian Wheldon claimed his first victory since Zandvoort in the second and final race of the FIA Formula Regional European Championship weekend at Paul Ricard. The MP Motorsport driver, who inherited pole position after a post-qualifying penalty was handed to R-ace GP's Emanuele Olivieri, went on to claim victory and score valuable championship points. R-ace GP's Rashid Al Dhaheri, who arrived in France leading the championship, finished sixth.

The FIA Formula Regional European Championship heads to Le Castellet this weekend (17-19 July) for the sixth of its eight scheduled rounds, which also marks the final event before the summer break.

Rashid Al Dhaheri secured his third victory of the season at the Hungaroring – and his first in a full-points race – to strengthen his lead in the FIA Formula Regional European Championship standings. The seventh round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine came to a close at the Red Bull Ring. Starting from pole and leading all the way to the chequered flag, Van Amersfoort Racing’s Brazilian driver, Pedro Clerot, powered to his second victory of the season. Clerot was caught in a lively scrap with Enzo Deligny at the start, but once clear of the early battles, he pushed hard and built a gap of over 2.7 seconds at the finish.

Starting from pole position earned in the morning qualifying, De Palo led from lights to flag to win Race 1 of the seventh round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. He left no openings for rivals, even managing the restart perfectly after a Safety Car triggered by an incident involving CL Motorsport’s rookies Zhenrui Chi and Enea Frey, Giovanni Maschio with RPM Motorsport, Al Maosherji with G4 Racing, and Jack Beeton with Prema Racing. The two CL Motorsport rookies were forced to retire, while the others were able to continue.

On the track that just three months ago hosted the Formula 1 Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Enzo Deligny claimed his second win of the season at the wheel of a R-ace GP car. The victory allowed the Frenchman to reclaim third place in the overall standings, now trailing only current championship leader Freddie Slater (Prema Racing) and Matteo De Palo (Trident Motorsport).
