The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine returns to action this weekend at Zandvoort for Round 3 of the 2025 season. A regular fixture on the Formula 1 calendar, the Dutch venue is known for its flowing layout and banked corners nestled in the dunes, stretching 4.259 km through the North Sea coast. The event is part of the prestigious DTM race weekend, once again offering a spectacular platform with thousands of fans expected in attendance.
Championship leader Matteo De Palo (Trident) arrives at Zandvoort with momentum on his side. The Italian has shown remarkable consistency across the opening rounds, combining victory and a third place in Misano with a second place in Race 1 and a sixth place in Race 2 at Spa. Thanks to this strong run, he leads the standings with 66 points.
Following closely is Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix), who took a victory in Misano but failed to score in Race 2 at Spa, leaving him 11 points adrift of the top spot. Meanwhile, Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP) is currently third in the standings after a breakthrough weekend in Belgium, scoring his first FRECA victory in Race 2 and a third-place finish on Saturday.
Freddie Slater (Prema Racing) continued the strong form shown in Misano, where he had already claimed a silver medal in Race 2, by securing his maiden victory in the championship at Spa in the heart of the Ardennes. Unfortunately, a multi-car contact forced him to retire in Race 2, leaving him without additional points from the weekend. Hiyu Yamakoshi (Van Amersfoort Racing) delivered a solid second-place finish in Race 2 at Spa, while fellow Japanese driver and Honda-backed Taito Kato (ART Grand Prix) earned his first podium in the series with a strong third-place result in the same race. They now sit fifth and sixth in the standings, respectively.
Rashid Al Dhaheri (Prema Racing) occupies seventh place, having scored consistently in the early stages of the season, although a contact while battling for the top five in Race 2 at Spa dropped him down the order. Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing) follows in eighth, continuing to show reliability and pace. Jack Beeton (Prema Racing) is ninth, with a points finish in every race so far. Rounding out the current top ten is Nikita Bedrin (Saintéloc Racing), who continues to gather valuable points in his third season in the series.
Drivers who have also accumulated points so far include Kanato Le (ART Grand Prix), Dion Gowda (Van Amersfoort Racing), Akshay Bohra (R-ace GP), Jin Nakamura (R-ace GP), Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi (Trident), and Giovanni Maschio (RPM). Among them, Dion Gowda leads the rookie standings.
