Saturday had left Aspar with unfinished business. Axel Nocom and Angelina Simons Torres had controlled their respective qualifying programmes without converting them into Final victories, while Mayson Hibbert had completed the opening day unbeaten. Sunday offered one final opportunity to master the unfamiliar circuit and another full day of closely fought racing in the Spanish heat.
By the end of it, Hibbert had completed a flawless weekend, while Nocom and Sebastian Verger Morell transformed their Sunday pace into commanding Final victories. With only the season finale remaining, the standings picture also became clearer and, in some cases, considerably closer.
Nocom responds with a complete Sunday performance
Axel Nocom opened the day by setting the pace in Junior Time Qualifying, with Vicente Capela, Diar Islami, Atiqa Mir and Alonso Gonzalez completing the top five. His benchmark would remain the fastest Junior lap of the entire weekend.
Zoltan Coigny then claimed the opening Qualifying Heat ahead of Capela and Nocom, but the Filipino driver responded in the second. Nocom led Capela, Coigny, Islami and Mitansh Jain across the line to secure a front-row start for the Final.
Coigny initially led the title contenders away, but a difficult start dropped him into the pack as Nocom moved to the front. Capela briefly challenged for control before Nocom reclaimed the lead and held it to the finish, taking his first International Series Final victory of the season. Capela completed an impressive Sunday in second, while Coigny recovered to third ahead of Jamie Ehrat and Jain.
Jain retains the Junior standings lead, but Coigny now sits just two points behind. Nocom remains firmly in contention in third, with Islami fourth and Julia Angelard completing the top five before the final round.
Eight wins from eight as Hibbert completes the sweep
There was no slowing Mayson Hibbert on Sunday. He led Gabin Leger, Samar Chopra, Alexandr Macháč and Ilyas Sami in Time Qualifying before winning both Qualifying Heats, extending an unbeaten run that had begun on Saturday morning.
Hibbert led Macháč and Muhammad Wibowo home in the opening heat, with Sami and Chopra completing the top five. Chopra moved into second in the following race ahead of Leger, Gordey Dulev and Adam Pirvu, but Hibbert remained untouchable at the front.
The Final briefly placed the leader under pressure, but once Hibbert regained control, he was able to break clear while the fight for the remaining podium positions continued behind him. David Sheetov charged through the field to secure second on the final lap, with Chopra taking third ahead of Macháč and Dominic Vera Roa.
Two pole positions, four Qualifying Heat wins and two Final victories gave Hibbert a perfect eight-from-eight weekend at Aspar. He moves to within seven points of Mini 60 series leader Ilyas Sami, with Maximilian Schilling third, Mik Klinkers fourth and Adam Pirvu completing the top five.
Verger Morell turns home knowledge into victory
Marcel Matyjewicz began the Senior programme on pole after setting the fastest lap of the event, with Sebastian Verger Morell, Michal Zajac, Ina Karine Rostad and Eias Lehmann completing a closely matched top five.
From there, Verger Morell took control. He won the first Qualifying Heat ahead of Lehmann, Matyjewicz, Veer Chopra and Simons Torres before repeating the result in the second race. Rostad finished second on that occasion, followed by Jagrat Detroja, Zajac and Matyjewicz.
Starting the Final from pole, Verger Morell made a decisive getaway and absorbed the pressure from Zajac before gradually establishing control. The Spanish driver completed a lights-to-flag victory on his first weekend in the series, adding Sunday’s win to his Saturday podium. Zajac finished second, Rostad earned her second podium of the weekend in third, and Simons Torres and Lehmann completed the top five.
Veer Chopra leaves Aspar at the top of the Senior standings, 18 points ahead of Jagrat Detroja. Michal Zajac remains firmly involved in third, while Angelina Simons Torres moves into fourth ahead of Eias Lehmann as the title fight heads to Franciacorta.
Everything now points to Franciacorta
Aspar tested the field with its length, heat and unfamiliar character, and the response produced six different Final winners across two days of competition. It also ensured that every title remains open as the Champions of the Future Academy Program prepares for its last event of 2026.
The International Series now moves to Franciacorta, where the season’s final two points-scoring days will decide the Mini 60, OK-N Junior and OK-N Senior titles.
