The Prema Racing driver, who sealed the Drivers’ title yesterday, delivered a flawless drive from pole to take his eighth victory of the season, entering the record books by matching the all-time winning tally of Paul Aron and Grégoire Saucy. The record for the most career wins in the series remains in the hands of Rafael Câmara, who scored nine victories over two seasons, including seven in 2024.

At Montmeló, the circuit located in the outskirts of Barcelona, the team managed by Luca Zerbini scored a resounding victory in the first race of the weekend thanks to Matteo De Palo. Fastest in his group in Qualifying 1, the Roman driver started from the front row alongside poleman Slater, the championship leader and his only direct rival in the title chase. When the lights went out, De Palo made a sprint-like move alongside Slater along the long straight leading to the first braking point.

Starting from pole position earned in the morning qualifying, De Palo led from lights to flag to win Race 1 of the seventh round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. He left no openings for rivals, even managing the restart perfectly after a Safety Car triggered by an incident involving CL Motorsport’s rookies Zhenrui Chi and Enea Frey, Giovanni Maschio with RPM Motorsport, Al Maosherji with G4 Racing, and Jack Beeton with Prema Racing. The two CL Motorsport rookies were forced to retire, while the others were able to continue.

Freddie Slater delivered a solid weekend at Imola, home to the sixth round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. Starting from the front row twice after leading his qualifying group for both races,  he stormed back to P2 after dropping one spot at the start. Unfortunately, after a controlled run in Race 2, his car was disqualified for a technical infraction.

It was a perfect weekend for Akshay Bohra at Imola, where the R-ace GP driver secured his first-ever pole position and followed it up with a maiden win in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine in Race 2.
