Saturday at the Prokart Raceland Wackersdorf was entirely dedicated to the qualifying heats of Round 2 of the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy. A total of 21 races were completed across the five categories — Mini MAX, Junior MAX, Senior MAX, DD2 and DD2 Masters — defining the grids for tomorrow’s decisive Prefinals and Finals.
Mini MAX once again proved extremely balanced. Joshua Cooke (KR Sport) backed up Friday’s pole position with a flawless heats campaign, completing a perfect 3-from-3 score. Behind him, James Roots (Dan Holland Racing) and Belgian driver Mik Klinkers (Bouvin Power) also confirmed their pace, keeping the fight for Sunday wide open.
In Junior MAX, despite a strong heats run featuring two second places and one victory, Friday pole sitter Martin Soltys (KRK Racing) was ultimately forced to give way to Zdenek Babicek (Dan Holland Racing), who won every heat he contested. Third overall is teammate Rares Pascu, who recovered seven positions compared to qualifying. One of the standout recoveries of the category came from Lucien Smith (KR Sport), who climbed from 30th after qualifying to 10th in the rankings after the heats.
Senior MAX saw Jeremy Reuvers (Karting Club Campillos) continue the form already shown on Friday. After securing the fastest lap in qualifying, the Frenchman also completed a clean sweep through the heats, mirroring the performances of Cooke and Babicek in their respective categories. Tomorrow’s Prefinal B will, however, see Tereza Babickova (Dan Holland Racing) starting from pole position after finishing second overall in the rankings, ahead of French driver Tom Langlois (Sodikart) and Switzerland’s Tino Sidler (KR Sport).
In DD2/DD2 Masters, reigning champion Jakub Bezel (Kraft Motorsport) took control of the category with victories in all three heats, moving ahead of Friday pole sitter Ragnar Veerus (Lenktyniu Linija) and Poland’s Patryk Donica (Birelart by KSB Racing). An unfortunate retirement in the final heat of the day heavily affected Leon Mandl (Birelart by KSB Racing), who dropped from second in qualifying to tenth in the post-heats classification. Nicolas Picot (Privateer) dominates in Masters.
Tomorrow’s Prefinals and Finals will crown the winners of Round 2 of the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy in Wackersdorf. The Pre-finals and Finals will be broadcast live.
