The start of the 2021 season has been a hectic one for the Sauber Academy inductees, who have been battling on many fronts as they aim to stake their claims to successful campaigns in their series. With the quality of our squad spread across a wide range of series, we’re aiming to round-up the results of the Sauber youngsters as we approach the hot months of summer.
 

Van Amersfoort Racing is excited to announce that Cem Bolukbasi will join their EuroFormula Open squad during the 4^th round of the season. Cem will compete alongside former teammates Casper Stevenson and Rafael Villagomez.
 

Defending W Series champion Jamie Chadwick (Veloce Racing) won the second race of the 2021 season at the Red Bull Ring to go to the top of the championship standings.
 

Dennis Hauger secured his second FIA Formula 3 Championship pole of the season today at Red Bull Ring. As expected, the short Austrian venue featured an incredibly tight pack with the top-5 covered by just one-tenth of a second.

Defending W Series champion Jamie Chadwick (Veloce Racing) will start the second race of the 2021 season from pole position after edging out her old rival Beitske Visser (M. Forbes Motorsport) during qualifying at the Red Bull Ring.  
 

Italian racing teams, Iron Lynx and PREMA, today announced that they have joined forces under the control of the Swiss-based company DC Racing Solutions Ltd., becoming one of the largest international groups in motorsport. 

W Series, the international single-seater motor racing championship for female drivers, today announces details of its new Academy which will support the development of young female talent across all motorsport disciplines.
 

Alice Powell made it back-to-back W Series victories at an action-packed first race of the 2021 season in Austria.
 

Hitech GP’s Reece Ushijima and Chris Dittmann Racing’s Ayrton Simmons were the winners on Sunday at Silverstone, after an entertaining pair of races at the home of the British Grand Prix. Japanese driver Ushijima claimed his second victory of the weekend with another dominant display in race one, while Simmons salvaged glory from a difficult weekend in the reverse grid race three. 

PREMA Powerteam claimed two podium finishes and a triple rookie win at Vallelunga, home to the third round of the 2021 Italian Formula 4 Championship. Sebastian Montoya established himself among the most competitive contenders all weekend. After taking second place in race 2, a jump start penalty deprived the 16-year-old Colombian-American of a chance to battle for the win. In race 3, Montoya fought as hard as he could with another charge for victory. He eventually came short but secured another second place and valuable points for the series. Race 3 proved extremely challenging for all drivers as a lengthy red flag, coupled with the torrid weather, really put their stamina to the test. Despite the tough situation, all PREMA Powerteam drivers were able to secure points.
 

Thomas ten Brinke has ended his motorsport career with immediate effect. The 16-year-old Ten Brinke joined the TeamNL selection at the beginning of this year, but has now indicated that he no longer enjoys the sport and is therefore quitting with immediate effect. While the KNAF and TeamNL regret the decision as the talented Ten Brinke seemed to have a great career in motorsport ahead of him, they admire the courage to make this difficult but brave choice at such a young age.

Austria's Styrian mountains will provide a fittingly dramatic backdrop when W Series returns to the track this weekend after nearly two years away. The international all-female single-seater motor racing championship will race in partnership with the FIA Formula One World Championship for eight rounds in 2021, starting with a double header in Austria on 26 June and 3 July in support of the Styrian and Austrian Grands Prix respectively.
 

Grégoire Saucy (ART Grand Prix) wins race 2 at the F1 Circuit Zandvoort and closes the perfect weekend with two pole positions and two wins. Behind him, Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport) confirms his and the team’s progression, also showing a great pace during the race, actually getting closer to the Swiss driver in the last laps. Gabriele Minì (ART Grand Prix) is third, as he loses the second position at the start, getting a little stuck behind Saucy and giving Colapinto the chance to overtake.

In 2019, Richard Verschoor became first rookie winner of the Macau Grand Prix since 2008, but that’s far from the MP Motorsport driver’s only achievement to date.

Track conditions vary, yellow flags interrupt twice the 20 minutes session of qualifying practice 2, but nothing changes at the head of the standings, with the Swiss Grégoire Saucy (ART Grand Prix – 1:31.193) setting an amazing lap time, 0.367 faster than his teammate, Gabriele Minì. Third is a fantastic Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport – 1:31.781), showing again a constant improvement of the driver and the team. Fourth is Mikhael Belov (G4 Racing – 1:31.949), who yesterday has brought the first points to his team, and is continuing to give strong support to G4 Racing in expressing their full potential. Fifth is Francesco Pizzi (Van Amersfoort Racing – 1:32.010), obtaining his best position in qualifying this year. Just behind the Italian driver is Oliver Goethe (MP Motorsport – 1:32.015).

PREMA Racing delivered an outstanding 1-2 finish today at Circuit Paul Ricard as the FIA Formula 3 Championship went underway for race 1 and 2 at the French Grand Prix venue. 

Grégoire Saucy, again! The ART Grand Prix driver once more is absolutely unbeatable and leads Race 1 at Circuit Zandvoort from pole position t0 the checkered flag. Never is he in trouble, with a great start and an equally fantastic restart after the safety car. Behind him, his teammate Gabriele Minì, in an absolutely consistent race, being the only driver with a pace close to Saucy.

On a wet track, the first 50 minutes collective tests session on the Circuit Zandvoort is stopped quite a few times due to red flags. In this “start and stop” session, it is Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport) to set the fastest lap time. The Argentinian driver stops the watch with a very good lap time of 1:39.588 in front of Dino Beganovic (Prema Powerteam – 1:39.894), Kas Haverkort (MP Motorsport – 1:40.234), David Vidales (Prema Motorsport – 1:40.424), Mikhael Belov (G4 Racing – 1:40.528) and Paul Aron (Prema Powerteam – 1:40.594).

Sauber Academy welcomes back an old friend of the team as Juan Manuel Correa joins the Sauber driver development pathway for the 2021 season.
