The Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship for the OK and OK-Junior categories, and the FIA Karting Academy Trophy-Senior, are coming to an end, with the outcome to be decided in Denmark on the 1,245-metre Rødby circuit. From 31st July to 3rd August, 245 drivers are registered for this eagerly awaited event.
The Rødby Karting Ring is one of the most recently built circuits. Only just approved at international level, it immediately hosted its first FIA Karting event in 2023. In the space of two years, the infrastructure has evolved further to host drivers and teams in the best possible conditions. The local club and the Danish federation (DASU) are heavily involved in ensuring the success of this major event. The Rødby complex is located on the Baltic Sea coast in the far south of Denmark on the island of Lolland, about 170 km from Copenhagen and close to the German coast.
Maxxis will supply tyres for all three categories, with "option" tyres for OK-Junior and Academy-Senior, and "prime" tyres for OK.
OK: Christian Costoya is the favourite
After James Anagnostiadis (AUS) won the opening round of the Championship in Spain, Christian Costoya (ESP) followed up with two impressive victories in Portugal and Italy. He has a significant lead in the standings, but with 101 points up for grabs in a single competition, his Australian rival can still believe in his chances despite trailing by 57 points. Like many drivers entered in OK this season, Costoya has experience at the Rødby circuit, where he finished fourth in the Final in 2023 when he was racing in OK-Junior.
Ranked third in last year's Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship in OK, Thibaut Ramaekers (BEL) has said goodbye to his dreams of winning the title in 2025, but can still finish as runner-up. Daniel Kelleher (IRL) and Zac Drummond (GBR), currently fourth and fifth in the standings, will be looking for their first victory. They will not be alone, with a large field of drivers expected for the final round of the Championship.

OK-Junior: Many unknowns ahead of the final in Rødby
After the first three rounds, which saw three different drivers take the top step of the podium, five Juniors are mathematically in contention for the European title. Dean Hoogendoorn (NED) has a narrow lead over Noah Baglin (GBR), but the 38 points scored by the latter in Viterbo are still pending the decision of the International Court of Appeal, which will be made after the Rødby competition. Having already finished on the podium twice, William Calleja (AUS) will be one to watch closely.
Henry Domain (GBR) and Ilie Crisan (CAN) will have to hope for a slip-up from their rivals to take the crown, but we have seen in the past that anything can happen in karting. Indeed, many Juniors could play the joker and slip in between the favourites. After Baglin's success in Campillos and Hoogendoorn's in Portimao, it was rookie Samuel Hugon (FRA) who won the Viterbo competition, having just celebrated his first qualification for a Final. As in OK, many drivers are registered as a wild card, including some Danish drivers who want to take advantage of their knowledge of the circuit to show off their skills.

Academy-Senior: Japan's Yuzuki Sato in the lead
The first edition of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy-Senior (14-16 years old) is living up to all expectations. During the two competitions in Portimao and Viterbo, the 36 drivers from 35 countries and the representative of the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission enjoyed very open racing, in a spirit of fair play. Identical equipment for all (Exprit/Vortex OK-N type) is provided by random draw by the Italian factory OTK.
Despite their respective victories in Portugal and Italy, Riccardo Ferrari (ITA) and Jules Avril (FRA) are not at the top of the Trophy standings ahead of this decisive stage. So far, the consistency of leader Yuzuki Sato (JPN) has paid off. Amador Martinez Saenz (COL) was also one of the main contenders in the two Finals held in May and June. With a different points system to that of the FIA Karting European Championships, there are around ten drivers in contention to win this first Academy Trophy-Senior. To achieve this, they will need to master the specific characteristics of the Rødby circuit. Suspense guaranteed...
