Denner on the podium of WSK Final Cup in Castelletto
Denner (Kalì-Kart) ended second in KZ2 after fighting for the victory. Valenti run also a strong race ending fifth in KZ2. Bortoleto run a good race in OK claiming P8, while Haverkort was hit by bad luck and forced to retire from the Final. The second race of WSK Final Cup in Castelletto di Branduzzo has seen Emilien Denner (Kalì-Kart) as the absolute protagonist in KZ2, fighting for the victory in the final stages. Gabriel Bortoleto’s performance has also been good on CRG-TM: he continued to build experience in OK, as Paolo Gallo and Alfio Spina in OK-Junior.
Emilien Denner has been excellent in KZ2. He got the lead of the Final at lap two and fended off the European Champion Adrien Renaudin, who lost some positions early on. The final overtaking of Renaudin and a contact with Denner reminded of De Conto’s with Celenta in Lonato, which cost the Italian of CRG the victory in the KZ European Championship. In that occasion De Conto was handed a quite debated penalty, while Renaudin’s action in Castelletto was deemed regular, or at least within the limits of the regulations. Two different interpretations of a virtually identical move. Denner eventually claimed a deserved second place in Castelletto at the end of a good comeback race following a difficult qualifying. A good result for CRG in KZ2 was also obtained by Marco Valenti, who secured a great P5 leading the Swiss Cyril Ratl, both on CRG-TM. Marco Lopez Guitierrez Oriol was 12th (Zanardi). Denner is second in the classification after two rounds and is only 3 points short of Renauldin.
Gabriel Bortoleto is building further experience in OK and turned out to be one of the main protagonists of the weekend also in this occasion. He posted in fact the third quickest time in qualifying, but the Brazilian was handed a 3s time penalty in the Final that relegated him to P8. His performance has been nevertheless positive as was the fourth place obtained in the WSK Final opener in Lonato. Kas Haverkort (Zanardi) has been quite unlucky instead. He was third after the heats and second in Prefinal-A, but a technical problem forced him to retire from the Final early on. Javier Sagrera could not qualify for the final due to a penalty received in Prefinal-B. Haverkort is currently third in the classification (102 points), 39 points short of the leader Travisanutto, while Bortoleto is sixth (46).
Paolo Gallo has been very combative on Kalì-Kart in OK-Junior. He secured a good P11 in the Final. Alfio Spina was 21st at the end of a positive weekend, while Lucas Pons was 25th due to a time penalty. Enzo Riccardo Scionti could not qualify for the Final due to the retirement on lap one of Prefinal-B.
Team Gamoto’s Dmitry Matveev was the best on CRG in 60 Mini and ended fifth, while Manuel Scognamiglio was 15th.
The third and closing round of WSK Final Cup will take place on November 25th in Adria.
