The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team is excited to confirm its Junior Programme line-up for 2023.

Danish youngster Sebastian Øgaard is the first driver to hook up with MP Motorsport for an assault on the inaugural Eurocup-3 series. The Dutch outfit is one of the teams providing cars for this new stepping stone in between Formula 4, the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) and FIA Formula 3.

RPM have announced their first driver for 2023, confirming the engagement of the Irish racer Adam Fitzgerald. Abu Dhabi, February 19, 2023: Mercedes Formula 1 protégé Andrea Kimi Antonelli became the inaugural Formula Regional Middle East (FRMEC) champion during another thrilling weekend of action in the final round at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. The 16-year-old Italian didn’t win any races, although he did take the chequered flag first in one of them. But a penalty for a collision with main title rival Taylor Barnard as they battled for the lead in race one converted victory into no points for Antonelli, and kept things at boiling point overnight before the deciding two races on Sunday.

Douglas Motorsport has completed its three car GB3 line-up with the signing of Polish ace Tymek Kucharczyk. The 16-year-old is an exciting addition to the Northamptonshire team’s line-up for the new campaign, having impressed on his single-seater debut last season, following a number of successful years competing in World Series Karting. 

During the team’s official Launch Event in London for the presentation of its 2023 Formula 1 challenger, the A523, Alpine announced new developments for its Rac(H)er programme confirming its ambition to promote equal opportunities for men and women to enhance its performance.

Gabriel Bortoleto ended pre-season testing on top, setting a 1:47.417 to lead the way on the final day of running for Trident. He narrowly headed up the field from Gabriele Minì, just 0.035s off the top spot with Grégoire Saucy in the top three once again.

Australian driver Costa Toparis will complete Rodin Carlin’s GB3 line-up for the 2023 season.  The 15-year-old will make his full-season European racing debut as he takes on the eight round championship which kicks off in April. Toparis lines-up alongside already confirmed teammates Callum Voisin and John Bennett.

But such has been the unpredictable nature of the season so far, that nothing can be taken for granted. Antonelli may have shared the wins in Dubai with Pepe Martí and Nikita Bedrin, but it was Taylor Barnard who scored the biggest points total of the weekend and he is still very much in the picture for the title.
