The winner of the 2023 GB4 Championship will again be rewarded with a £50,000 contribution towards their 2024 single-seater racing programme. The biggest fund available in UK junior single-seater racing, the £50,000 can be put towards a campaign in either GB3 or British Formula 4 for the following season, and will be paid to the team that the driver contracts with as part of their career progression towards hopefully F1. 

After a successful and promising first season in single-seaters in 2022, marked by three 5th places in Formula 4 in the Italian, German and UAE championships, James Wharton has just started a second season of F4 racing that will be very important for the future of his career. A Ferrari Driver Academy driver, supported by All Road Management, Motorsport Australia and racing with the Mumbai Falcons Racing team, the 16-year-old Australian was in Dubai from 9th to 14th January for the first of five FIA-certified UAE F4 events. A podium finish has already rewarded his high level of performance.

The inaugural round of the new Formula Regional Middle East Championship Certified by FIA (FRMEC) was certainly dramatic and unpredictable. When the dust settled at the Dubai Autodrome from three sensational races from the high-quality, international 27-driver field, a trio of young talents were celebrating victories – yet none of them are in the leading three positions in the championship.

Much of the world’s most exciting young racing talent, including numerous champions, is gearing up for the opening round of the Formula Regional Middle East Championship Certified by FIA at the Dubai Autodrome. The huge, international field will begin its schedule of five triple-header events on 13-14 January in support of the Dubai 24 Hours, before four more rounds, the entire season held at FIA Grade I circuits.

Argentinian racer Franco Colapinto has rejoined MP Motorsport for a fresh assault on the FIA Formula 3 Championship. The 19-year-old from Buenos Aires raced with MP during his years in Formula Renault and Formula Regional and will now once again team up with the Dutch outfit for his second season in FIA F3. Colapinto is also the latest addition to the Williams Racing Driver Academy.

Joshua Duerksen will make his second appearance in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine in 2023, after signing with Arden Motorsport for a second season.

Jonny Edgar has signed with MP Motorsport for a renewed attempt at FIA Formula 3 glory. The 18-year-old from Workington in Cumbria aims to reap the benefit of experience in the Formula 1 feeder series by hooking up with the race-winning Dutch team.

Following a successful first running of GB4’s National Formula Ford shoot-out in 2022, MotorSport Vision (MSV) and the British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC) are pleased to confirm that the initiative will continue in 2023.

Fox Motorsport has announced that new Fiesta Junior Champion Sid Smith will step up to the team’s all-new GB4 Championship line-up in 2023. The 16-year-old, who will race alongside Liam McNeilly, is no stranger to Fox Motorsport. The team is based just a few miles from his home in Maldon, Essex - and he contested three Ginetta Junior events with the team during the latter stages of this year.

Brazilian racer Rafael Camara will race with PREMA in the 2023 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine, making a key step from Formula 4 to complete the team’s three-car line-up. The 17-year-old racer, who is supported by the Ferrari Driver Academy program, debuted in single-seaters at the beginning of the year and immediately rose to the occasion in the Formula 4 UAE Championship, where he amassed six wins despite having to miss one round.

Italian youngster Valerio Rinicella will stay with MP Motorsport for a second season in the Spanish Formula 4 Championship. As a sophomore, the 15-year-old from Rome aims to improve on his sixth place in 2022’s final standings.

Australian team Evans GP has announced plans to enter the 2023 GB4 Championship with a two-car entry. The squad has competed in the Formula Regional Asia Championship since 2021, and was one of only four teams to win races in the category earlier this season, the others being European powerhouse teams Prema Racing, R-Ace GP and Hitech GP. 

Accomplished tin top racer Dylan Hotchin will step up to the GB4 Championship in 2023, after confirming plans to enter as a privateer. Hotchin will become the first fully-blown private entry in GB4, with the 18-year-old switching from Ford Fiesta racing to single-seaters, and competing under the Dylan Hotchin Racing banner. 

G4 Racing is proud to announce that Alessandro Giusti will drive one of the team's three cars in the 2023 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine season. After concluding its second campaign in the highly-competitive series last October at Mugello, the Swiss squad worked hard to prepare for the upcoming challenge and has identified Alessandro as the perfect partner for the championship ahead.

GB4’s National Formula Ford shoot-out winner Colin Queen will graduate to the GB4 Championship with Fortec Motorsport in 2023. The American, who was selected as the winner following the assessment at Snetterton in October, won a £20,000 prize to put towards a drive in GB4, and has chosen Fortec as he climbs the motorsport ladder.
