Vettenranta crowned Academy Trophy Junior Winner, double Italian victory on home soil in the World Cup

The new FIA Karting event, which brought together the OK-N and OK-N Junior World Cups, as well as the third and final competition of the Academy Trophy - Junior, lived up to all expectations. On the Cremona circuit, the last day ended in sunshine with some very exciting Finals. Italy's Manuel Scognamiglio made the difference in OK-N, and his compatriot Gioele Girardello made history by becoming the first winner of the OK-N Junior World Cup. While Lithuania's Nojus Stasionis won the Academy - Junior Final, the title was clinched by Finland's Oiva Vettenranta on the final lap

OK-N: Manuel Scognamiglio succeeds Kyuho Lee

Leader after the Qualifying Heats, Manuel Scognamiglio (ITA) won Super Heat A on Sunday morning and retained his place at the front of the starting grid for the Final. Super Heat B went to William Marshall (RSA), who finished third in the final intermediate classification behind Wojciech Woda (POL). Full of confidence after winning the Italian OK-N Championship just a week earlier, Scognamiglio delivered a commanding performance, setting the fastest lap and pulling away from his rivals to earn a well-deserved victory.

Behind him, however, the positions were constantly changing. Woda, who had been in second place for a long time, retired on the 10th of the 25 laps of the Final. Nicolas Fuca (ARG) took over, before being overtaken by Danny Carenini (ITA), who made a sensational comeback from 14th place. The end of the race was not easy for Fuca, with three drivers in pursuit. In the end, the Argentine held on. Federico Nardozi overtook William Marshall on the last lap under the watchful eye of Cristian Tonalini (ITA), who had moved up from 19th place! Another compact group finished a few lengths behind, led by Guido Bidoli (NAM) and Federico Rossi (ITA) behind him, who had moved up 14 places.

OK-N Junior: Gioele Girardello reigns supreme in Lombardy

With the exception of one Qualifying Heat, Gioele Girardello (ITA) was in the lead throughout the weekend in Cremona, from pole position to the Final. The 2025 Italian champion in the category also won Super Heat A, while Oleksandr Legenkyi (ITA) finished first in Heat B. In the decisive race, Girardello held his nerve and let his rivals battle it out for the other podium places, securing the top spot with the fastest lap. After an excellent start, Michele Orlando (ITA) overtook Legenkyi to take second place, before holding off Albert Tamm (SUI). Starting from the front row, Tamm had hoped for better, but was ultimately satisfied to celebrate his podium finish in the first edition of the FIA Karting World Cup - OK-N Junior.

The Iron Dames colours shone in the Italian sun, with Victoria Farfus (BRA) finishing fourth after gaining seven places. Legenkyi finished less than six tenths behind. Huifei Xie (ITA), who played a major role in the competition, ended up in sixth place.

Academy - Junior: Stasionis wins, Vettenranta is champion

The final lap of the final race decided the final standings in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy - Junior. In Cremona, all the title contenders experienced ups and downs, leading to constant changes in the standings. Leader after the heats, Maël Le Marchand (FRA) retained his lead at the start, but had to give way shortly after the halfway point to the fast Nojus Stasionis (LTU) and then, on the following lap, to Oiva Vettenranta (FIN), his main rival in the overall standings. By securing third place, Le Marchand knew he was champion, but the Frenchman saw Finlay Lines (GBR) catch up with him at the end of the race, after already having to watch out for Julian Rivera Salas (ECU) for several laps.

Finally, Lines took his chance on the last lap, but pushed Le Marchand off the track. Several drivers took advantage of this to slip through, shaking up the Trophy standings. A brilliant second behind Stasionis, who won with the fastest lap, Vettenranta saw the title come into his grasp due to the points lost by Le Marchand. The Frenchman ultimately had to settle for the runner-up spot. Lines was penalised, allowing Marc Alexander Reistrup (DEN) to take his place on the podium. Nicola Frigg (SUI) made a brilliant comeback from 12th to fourth place ahead of Nik Brecelj (SLO), who fell back as the laps went by despite starting on the front row. Emilio Bernd (GER) completed the top six ahead of Le Marchand and Rivera Salas.
