Champions of the Future: Changing conditions shake up order as heat battles set the stage

After Thursday’s opening chapter of Qualifying Practice and the first Qualifying Heats, Friday brought the second and decisive part of the Qualifying Heats programme, completing the picture ahead of the Superheats.

Conditions, however, made sure nothing came easy. The morning began mostly dry despite the sun disappearing, allowing drivers to build on Thursday’s momentum, but as the day progressed, the track evolved rapidly. Rain returned through the afternoon, turning the final heats into a test of control and survival. Then, in a final twist, the last groups to hit the track switched back to slick tyres on a still-damp surface — a call that would prove critical in shaping the final standings.

Walle Emerges On Top After Consistent Heat Campaign

In Junior, consistency proved key. Oskari Walle ended the heats at the top of the intermediate classification after a strong and controlled run, putting himself in the best position heading into the Superheats.

Behind him, Martin Bertolaccini secured second overall, converting a heat win into provisional pole position for Superheat 2, while Alessandro Truchot completed the top three after a competitive and consistent performance.

The defining moment came in the final heat on slicks. With grip still limited, several drivers were caught out. Priam Bruno, who had been in contention for pole, saw his chances disappear after a chainguard issue triggered a technical flag and forced his retirement, dropping him down the order.

Taking full advantage, Jarlath Sayer kept it clean through the chaos to secure the win, moving himself up into the top ten of the standings. Elsewhere, Niccolò Perico, Antoine Sylva Venant, and Many Nuvolini remain firmly in contention, ensuring the fight stays wide open heading into the Superheats.

Bottaro Holds On As The Fight Tightens

In OK, Davide Bottaro ends the day provisionally on top of the intermediate classification, holding on despite a moment that nearly cost him, ultimately turning it into a result that keeps him leading the field.

Close behind, William Calleja continues a strong run to secure second overall, while Zac Drummond completes the top three after a consistent set of results across the heats.

Just behind them, Viktor Gustafsson has quickly re-established himself as a front-runner, sitting fourth after a strong return, with Aaron Garcia Lopez completing the top five. With margins tight and multiple contenders still within striking distance, the battle remains wide open heading into the Superheats.

With the Qualifying Heats now complete, attention turns to the Superheats, where the final grids for the Finals will be decided.
