Impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 will bring the Lonato venue back to the forefront of international competition for the second time in a row. After the withdrawal of Le Mans, the South Garda Karting circuit has been asked to host the FIA Karting World Championship - KZ, the FIA Karting International Super Cup - KZ2 and the third competition of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy from 2nd to 4th October.

Arthur Rogeon has just had a very enriching experience by taking part in the three events in the FIA OK-Junior European Championship that has just ended on the very selective Wackersdorf circuit. In Germany, the young French hope finished just shy of the top places in the qualifying heats. It’s a shame that a race incident hampered his eye-catching performance.

The last round of the European Championship didn't go very well for Parolin Racing Kart. Little known by the team, the circuit of Wackersdorf offered very different conditions than the two previous competitions and the circumstances weren't often favourable for the Parolin drivers. Only Valerio Rinicella was able to maintain his position in the Junior class and to finish in 4th place of the Championship, an exceptional result for a rookie. However, the Racing Team took the opportunity to prepare for the World meeting at Portimao.

Races follow one another and do not always look the same! Having just been crowned double European Champion the previous week in KZ and KZ2, the Birel ART brand was hoping to continue its momentum and finish its European campaign in OK and OK-Junior with a new major result. Alas, the hazards of the race decided otherwise. Several points of satisfaction remain for the official team of Lissone, such as the excellent performance of the Brazilian Matheus Morgatto, who came 8th in the final with a high level of performance.

At the second round of the European Championship at Genk, Birel ART increased its domination of the international KZ and KZ2 categories by winning two titles in one go despite very tight competition. The double win by Marijn Kremers and Alessandro Irlando in KZ was indicative of the current dynamism of Birel ART, as well as that of Viktor Gustavsson and Simone Cunati in KZ2.

Mission accomplished for Team Leclerc By Lennox Racing, crowned European Champions in Genk in the KZ2 class thanks to Viktor Gustavsson and adding a first title to their palmares. An emphatic victory, which on the one hand proves the quality of the CL Karting by Birel ART chassis equipped with TM Racing engines once and for all and which, on the other hand, handsomely rewards such a young team for their hard and incessant work since early season.

At the end of the weekend in Genk, the RSZ and RTZ engines are getting another prestigious result thanks to Simo Puhakka (Tony Kart Racing Team) who gains the third position in the KZ FIA Karting European Championship.

In perfect weather conditions, the last day of the Genk competition offered a high quality show to the fans of close racing from all over the world. In the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ, Stan Pex won the Final in front of Marijn Kremers who took the title. In the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ2, the scenario was similar with the victory of David Trefilov and the crowning of Viktor Gustavsson. By winning the Final of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy, Connor Zilisch took a decisive option on the title.

The FIA Karting competition in Genk started this Friday afternoon, 4th September, with the Qualifying Practice for the second round of the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ & KZ2 and the FIA Karting Academy Trophy. The health constraints in force in Belgium concerning the Covid-19 required the implementation of a very strict protocol, which made it hard for a significant number of drivers to reach the Genk venue. Sweden's Noah Millel and Viktor Gustavsson were the fastest in KZ and KZ2 respectively, while Belgium's Tom Braeken was the Academy pole position holder.

The 2020 FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior will be held at the Prokart Raceland in Wackersdorf in Germany from 11th to 13th September. The FIA has adopted a new infection-control protocol adapted to the development of the COVID-19 pandemic to reinforce everyone's safety and allow the smooth running of the competition. Both categories each have a favourite, but the destinations of the titles are far from a foregone conclusion.

While the Coronavirus is still active in several regions of the world, Belgium has adopted additional health control measures to prevent further infection. These will be applied in conjunction with the FIA guidelines during the FIA Karting Competition, which will take place as planned from 3rd to 6th September at the Genk "Home of Champions" circuit.
