Young French kart driver from the Mayenne, Arthur Rogeon, made a promising start to his European Championship attack in Spain two weeks ago. But in Italy he only had time to show his speed before running into problems that were as insurmountable as they were unexpected.

With another pole position and a top six for Maxwell Dodds in OK-Junior at Sarno, Parolin Racing Kart was looking like they would achieve the Zuera scenario again. However, the circumstances were very different in the second round of the OK and OK-Junior European Championship.

The second round of the FIA Karting European Championship OK-OKJ took place this weekend at the International Circuit of Naples, Italy, which saw our team amongst the protagonists of the first round of WSK Euro Series that was contested over a month ago.

On the track in Sarno, the effectiveness of the OTK equipment was confirmed by Joseph Turney’s third place in OK and the podium potential of the drivers competing in OKJ.

The European Championship race at Sarno for the OK and OK-Junior categories had started well for the Birel ART brand, with a promising Qualifying and several drivers at the front of the field. Unfortunately, there were many collisions in the hot weather near Naples. The hopes of the Birel ART Racing team were dashed throughout the Heats and Finals, to the great regret of the whole team, although they are already focused on the upcoming competitions...

In line with the previous phases, the Finals of the FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior were hotly contested in Sarno, but the favourites won indisputably after some spectacular races. After a faultless race from start to finish, Britain's Taylor Barnard won in the OK class, while Ugo Ugochukwu of the United States won in the Junior class.

Twenty Qualifying Heats, eight in OK and twelve in Junior, were on the programme on Saturday 22nd August on the Sarno circuit for the second Competition of the FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior. The intensity of the Heats, as well as the nervousness of some Drivers, shaped the provisional hierarchy. Barnard continued his dominance in OK, while Ugochukwu had a clear round in Junior.

The heat continues to play an important role in this early season of 2020, which has been postponed to the middle of summer. Now 15 years old, Kajus Siksnelis comes from Lithuania where basketball is much more popular than motorsport! So the young kart racer did not hesitate to travel across Europe to make progress and build his reputation. The revelation of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy in 2018, he continued in the Competition the following year to win the title.

After the not very lucky opening in Zuera, CRG’s Racing Team worked hard to improve its performance and all drivers are resolute to run a strong race.

Proud to represent his country in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy, Luxembourg hopeful Maxime Furon Castelain fulfilled his mission perfectly at the opening event on the Italian circuit of Adria. Very fast, but also extremely consistent, combative but calm, Maxime concluded his faultless run on the second step of the Final podium. His 2nd position in the provisional Trophy ranking opens up great prospects for him.

The KZ World Champions of 2019, the Birel ART Racing Team has just started its FIA European Karting Championship campaign with a masterful victory by Alessandro Irlando. This success was completed by the third step of the podium for Riccardo Longhi and 4th place for Marijn Kremers at the wheel of his Ricciardo Kart. The Birel ART chassis proved to be just as effective in KZ2. Viktor Gustafsson easily won the Final in the colours of Charles Leclerc with the Lennox Racing team, while Giuseppe Palomba was 3rd!

The first Competition of the FIA European Karting Championship - KZ & KZ2 and the FIA Karting Academy Trophy concluded on the circuit of Adria (ITA) after an excellent day of racing. In sunny and warm weather, the last Qualifying Heats preceded the three Finals on Sunday 16th August 2020. The Swedish Driver Gustavsson dominated the KZ2 Final just as the young American Zilisch mastered the Academy Final. The outcome was more uncertain in KZ before the Italian Irlando secured victory after leading for the entire race.

The weather was beautiful on Saturday, 15th August on the Adria circuit for a hot day dedicated to most of the Qualifying Heats for the first Competition of the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ & KZ2 and the FIA Karting Academy Trophy. The Finn Simo Puhakka dominated KZ with two victories, while Jonathan Weywadt (DNK) and Connor Zilisch (USA) shared the lead in the Academy standings. Four Drivers stood out in KZ2: Danilo Albanese (ITA), Viktor Gustavsson (SWE), Simone Cunati (ITA) and Paavo Tonteri (FIN).
