International karting will be on track in Portimao for the 2^nd and final race of the Champions of the Future series, on the next weekend (from Thursday 29^th October to Sunday 1^st November). It will be a very important race as it will be a test for all the teams and drivers in view of the FIA ​​World Championship for the OK and OK-Junior categories, which will be held on the same track the following week.

Very involved in his role as President of the FIA International Karting Commission, Felipe Massa was determined to meet the different players in the 2020 FIA Karting Competitions, first during the European Championship - OK & Junior in July, then in Italy at the World Championship - KZ. Despite the tight schedule between August and November, the Brazilian was pleased with the success of the current racing season.

Initially scheduled to take place in Brazil, the FIA Karting World Championship - OK & Junior has been rescheduled very early in the season in Portugal to cope with the difficulties generated by the COVID-19 pandemic. 177 Drivers are committed to participating in the last and probably most exciting Competition of the season at the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve from 5th to 8th November 2020.

A 21 year old driver, crowned FIA Karting European Champion - KZ2 in 2018, Adrien Renaudin is still considered as one of the youngest in the KZ category. On several occasions, the Frenchman has given his experienced opponents a hard time, becoming a key member of the Sodikart team. His status as a professional karting Driver makes him happy, aware that many other Drivers would like to take his place. Now, he hopes to take up many more challenges at the highest level...

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the FIA Karting Academy Trophy quickly established itself as a cost-effective detection tool for young talents and proven a success both in terms of grid numbers as well producing future stars of motorsport.

Simone Cunati dominated the Final of the KZ2 International Super Cup masterfully, while Giuseppe Palomba ensured a double despite starting in 7th position. 2019 World Champion and reigning European KZ Champion Marijn Kremers, his Ricciardo Kart colours and TM engine were just 4 tenths from a new title. They clinched the Vice-World Championship after a difficult but perfectly managed event by Birel ART.

The FIA and ACI are deeply concerned by the disturbing events that occurred yesterday during the FIA Karting KZ World Championship in Lonato, Italy, involving drivers, team members and track officials. The FIA has launched an immediate investigation in to the incidents.

At the end of the spectacular Finals, the Frenchman Jeremy Iglesias was crowned FIA Karting World Champion - KZ. The Italian Simone Cunati won the FIA Karting International Super Cup - KZ2 and the Israel's Ariel Elkin won the FIA Karting Academy Trophy Final, while the American Connor Zilisch won the Trophy.

The evolution of the weather situation has again played an important role in the 18 Qualifying Heats held on Saturday, 3rd October at Lonato. The heavy rain in the morning was followed by sunny weather that allowed the track to dry out. Kremers (NLD) managed to keep the advantage in KZ, Giannoni (ITA) leads in KZ2 and Gubenko in the Academy.

The FIA Karting World Championship - KZ, the FIA Karting International Super Cup - KZ2 and the third round of the Academy Trophy began on Friday, 2nd October, 2020 with changing grip conditions while the skies showed a clear intent to rain on Lonato. Gustavsson (KZ2), Braeken (Academy) and Kremers (KZ) were the heroes of this first day of competition.

As in 2019, Italy and the Lonato track will host again the most important event for the KZ classes: the KZ2 FIA World Cup and the KZ FIA World Championship. There will be 138 drivers fighting for the most important titles of the shifter categories (33 in KZ and 105 in KZ2) and the CRG Racing Team will take the field with a very competitive line-up in both classes.
