In all categories in which the KR chassis was officially represented, the podium was secured in the third round of the WSK Super Master Series. On the Leopard circuit, the event ended with Niccolo Perico's victory in OK-N Junior, where the Italian extended his lead in the overall standings. Titles are also still within reach in OK and OK-Junior, as well as in both Mini categories.
An undeniable rise in performance
The official Kart Republic team did not compete in the opening round of the WSK Euro Series the previous week, and it had to face drivers and teams that were more familiar with the track. In addition, rain disrupted much of the free practice, and the track only dried out for the official Qualifying sessions. Some drivers adapted better than others, and excellent results eventually emerged over the course of the days.
Fusion Motorsport shows its claws on the Leopard circuit
In both OK and OK-Junior, the best results for the KR-IAME teams were achieved by Fusion Motorsport. Starting in 4th place, Zac Drummond moved up to 2nd in the Final, having been one of the fastest drivers in the race. The Briton is also 2nd in the overall standings in a category that saw Zac Green (Jamie Green Racing), Valerio Viapana (Koski Motorsport) and Andrea Manni (KR Motorsport) shine.
In OK-Junior, Daniel Miron Lorente moved up to 2nd in the series after a superb 3rd-place finish ahead of Vsevolod Osadchyi Suslovskyi. There were no fewer than six KR chassis in the top 14 thanks to the performances of the KR Motorsport team drivers: Will Green, Oliveri Sini, Many Nuvolini and Lucas Palacio.
Niccolo Perico dominates OK-N Junior
Leader of the Qualifying Heats and winner of the Super Heat, Niccolo Perico led the Final from first to last lap, crossing the finish line two seconds ahead of his pursuer and setting the fastest lap of the race. His lead in the overall standings is now very significant: 168 points. Other drivers equipped with KR chassis also shone, such as John Han (Zanchi Motorsport), who took pole position and finished 3rd in the Final. Marco Verde (Emme Racing) finished P5 and Henri Moehring (Dörr Motorsport) P7.
The KR Motorsport team congratulates Jack Fynn Wolff for his comeback from 10th to 2nd place in Mini U10 ahead of Denver Bos (Kidix Driver Performance). Accustomed to celebrating podium finishes in Mini 60 "Gr.3", Team Driver Racing Kart supported Daniel Ferguson onto the second step of the podium. Despite his misfortune, Wynn Godschalk (Kidix) remains in a good position to challenge for the title.
Commentary from Dino Chiesa, head of KR Global Motorsport Company
“When Kart Republic commits, it’s to aim for victory, but as I often say, these early-season events are not necessarily representative of what the rest of the year will be like. In a few weeks’ time, the weather conditions will change, temperatures will rise, and the grip on the tracks will increase. At the FIA Karting OK and OK-Junior European Championships, we will be using different tyres to those used in the WSK Promotion, and we will need to be competitive with these different parameters. Of course, the WSK Super Master Series is not over yet, and we will continue to work hard to perform well in the last two rounds.”
