The closing act will define the final classification of WSK Final Cup: the Adria Karting Raceway is about to stage this coming weekend the third and closing round of the International Karting Series organized by WSK Promotion. The competitive part of the weekend has already got underway today with qualifying that has been followed by the initial heats. Current classification leaders, namely the Jamaican Alex Powell (Energy-TM-Vega) in 60 Mini, the Brit Taylor Barnard (KR-Parilla-Vega) in OK Junior, the Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR-Parilla-Bridgestone) in OK and the French Adrien Renaudin (SodiKart-TM-Bridgestone) in KZ2, are getting ready to face the challenge of their rivals. After qualifying, the 230 drivers that have passed technical and sporting scrutineering are called to run heats that have already started this evening and will continue for the whole day tomorrow. The grand finale will take place on Sunday 25th with Prefinals and Finals to name the winners of the four categories.

Mixed weather characterized the sessions of all categories today, starting from the first to get on track: OK Junior. In between rain showers, the British driver James Wharton (FA-Vortex-Vega) posted his best time in 55”767s, while the Russian Nikita Bedrin (Tony Kart-Vortex) has been quite a bit slower on the wet, but classified second. Classification leader Barnard was only sixth. The first two heats (above, the start of one of the races) went to Bedrin and to the Swede William Silverholm (Tony Kart-Vortex).

KZ2 classification leader started on a high. The French Adrien Renaudin (SodiKart-TM-Bridgestone) posted the quickest time in 1’03”437s and led the Dutch Dylan Davies (DR-Modena) by 0”940s. The French also had a good end to the day, as he won the first qualifying heat leading Davies again.

The Italian Andrea Rosso (Parolin-TM-Bridgestone) is quite resolute to be part of the fight for the victory in OK: he posted, in fact, the quickest time in 1’03”744s, leading the Dane Nicklas Nielsen (Praga-Parilla) by 0”356s. Classification leader Travisanutto followed them in P3. The challenge continued on track with the two Italians, Rosso and Travisanutto, winning one heat each (above, the start of the race won by Travisanutto).

The Russian driver Alexandr Tibekin (DR-TM-Vega) put in a great performance and posted a 1’14”215s that earned him the lead in 60 Mini. He led Brando Badoer (Parolin-TM-Vega), who was second in 0”674s. Badoer had a good momentum though, as he has been the quickest among the drivers on the highest part of the classification. Classification leader from Jamaica Alex Powell (Energy-TM) was only 18th. The momentum of classification underdogs continued in qualifying heats: winners today were, in fact, Tibekin, the Russian Maksim Orlov (Parolin-TM) and Arab Emirates’ Rashid Al Dhaheri (Tony Kart-Vortex).
