Expectations Met! A Stunning Day of Sunshine for the Finals of Round 1 at the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy. The sun was shining bright over Wackersdorf, setting the perfect stage for an unforgettable day of racing at the Finals of Round 1 of the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy. Trophies were lifted by Alfie Mair (Mini MAX), Cole Denholm (Junior MAX), Lewis Gilbert (Senior MAX), Jakub Bezel (DD2), and Nicolas Picot (DD2 Masters).

Mini MAX – Mair Leads the SFR Motorsport 1-2

Alfie Mair stormed to victory in the German Cup Mini MAX, securing his ticket to the 2025 Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals. The race was anything but predictable: Oliver Spencer (KR Sport) struggled at the start, immediately losing a key contender. However, Spencer put on a spectacular comeback drive, climbing from the back of the grid to finish 8th. At the front, the battle for victory was fierce, but Mair managed to fend off his British compatriots Tom Read, his SFR Motorsport teammate, and Austin Oman (Sam Pollitt Racing).

Junior MAX – Denholm Masters the Strategy Game

Cole Denholm (Dan Holland Racing) claimed the Junior MAX victory after an intense 14-lap battle at the front. It was a tactical race of fast laps and smart moves, with Denholm keeping his cool to overcome teammate Jacob Ashcroft. Belgium’s Vince Vanderhallen (Bouvin Power) secured third place, while Rory Armstrong delivered a gritty performance, gaining seven positions to finish just off the podium.

Senior MAX – Gilbert Takes the Lead and Never Looks Back

A brilliant start allowed Lewis Gilbert (Kraft Motorsport) to snatch the lead from pole-sitter Sean Butcher (KR Sport) and dominate the race from start to finish. Butcher dropped down the order, with Tino Sidler (Strawberry Racing) making an impressive comeback by gaining four places to claim second. However, the race classification is currently under review (Sub Judice).

DD2/DD2 Masters – Bezel Completes the Job

Jakub Bezel delivered Kilian Kraft and his team their second win of the day on track. The Czech driver kept his rivals at bay, crossing the line ahead of teammate Tommie van der Struijs and Austria’s Manuel Tenschert (BirelART by KSB). In the DD2 Masters, Nicolas Picot completed a sensational recovery drive, gaining 11 positions to seize yet another memorable win, also finishing 5th overall. With early retirements for Xen De Ruwe (SSC) and pole-sitter Fabian Bock (Kraft Motorsport), the remaining podium spots were taken by Dimo Notarfrancesco (Kart Team Meier) and Maurits Knopjes (DAEMS Racing).

Just over a month separates the Wackersdorf event from the next round of the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy, set to take place at the Steel Ring circuit in Trinec, the weekend of June 8th.
