Following the success of the Rotax MAX Challenge International Trophy Asia 2026, BRP-Rotax is pleased to confirm the dates for this special event to return to the very unique and historical location of Macau. The RMCIT Asia welcomed competitors from more than 20 different countries earlier this year for the first time racing under the Rotax banner at the challenging 1,203-metre Coloane Kart Circuit. From January 20-24, 2027, the competition launches the start of the new season, in the battle for the title and the first RMC Grand Finals tickets.
The RMCIT Asia continues to establish a new sporting level for karting, encouraging international participation in the region and an excellent platform for drivers to gain necessary race experience. Six Rotax classes will be contested in Macau: Micro MAX, Mini MAX, Junior MAX, Senior MAX, DD2 and DD2 Masters, with RMCGF 2027 invitational tickets awarded to the champions in five of these categories. There will be other great prizes presented to the top drivers in the youngest field of Micro MAX. Entries are strictly limited in each class, and registration is open.
The RMCIT Asia 2027 regulations are now available online, along with the provisional timetable, on the official event website.
Karting in Macau dates back to the mid-1960s and its motorsport history literally spans decades. It has hosted world-level events for karting, cars and motorcycles, and notably the Macau Grand Prix. This amazing venue offers drivers and their teams the opportunity to compete on the only permanent track in Hong Kong and Macau, against some of the best across the Asian region and beyond, with an international line-up expected. Set amongst the high-rise city landscape, the Coloane Kart Circuit is regarded as one of the most demanding in Asia, with a cool, dry climate in January that makes this a more than suitable choice for one of the premier karting events on the Rotax racing calendar. With the valued support of the AAMC, the Macau ASN, the RMCIT Asia is now part of the tradition.
In addition to the on-track program, the close proximity to major airports and hotels, organised transport and ‘arrive and drive’ race packages ultimately combine to provide an attractive option. Macau is a short distance from Hong Kong over the 55-kilometre bridge that forms the world’s longest sea crossing. As a Special Administrative Region of China, it is rich in culture, with the UNESCO World Heritage Historic Centre and vibrant East-West influence, fabulous food and exciting nightlife.
RMCIT Asia winner and RMC Grand Finals 2023 champion in Bahrain, Ragnar Veerus, won the first RMCGF 2026 DD2 ticket to be racing in Portimao with Team Estonia this November. “Macau was definitely a unique experience I enjoyed a lot, and something you cannot find anywhere else; completely different city and culture, the track and even the weather...” Veerus explains. “Getting there was fairly easy, flying into Hong Kong and then taking the ferry to Macau. I actually really liked the Coloane Kart Circuit and was positively surprised by the technicality of the track – big elevations, banked corners, and big braking zones. It also has decent overtaking spots at the end of the straights so definitely a driver’s circuit. The competition level was quite high, and we had three Grand Finals champions on the grid. The winning feeling is always good, and winning abroad is even better. On a technical track against equal drivers, for the first time there, I was very pleased. A good team contributes to results. We had winning material from Taiwan, top expertise and drivers from Europe. It was great to get the first RMCGF 2026 ticket, but this didn’t affect my racing plans for the season.”
