WSK Euro Series kicked off in Sarno

Free practice on Thursday, July 9th, have opened the WSK Euro Series at the International Circuit Napoli in Sarno (Salerno, Italy). This event is part of the renewed WSK Promotion calendar that, despite the difficulties connected to the present sanitary emergency, this year has already run the WSK Champions Cup and four rounds of the WSK Super Masters Series with the recent intense week in Adria.

About 180 drivers took part in this opener of WSK Euro Series in the four entitled categories KZ2, OK, OKJ and MINI with drivers coming from 32 different countries. In this occasion, Italian drivers are the highest number, due also to the difficult movements across countries – and particularly from Russia, Asia and America – due to the Covid pandemic.

A lot of Champions born in WSK Euro Series. In the recent years a lot of current motorsport stars have been shining in WSK Euro Series, like Max Verstappen, who won it in 2010 and 2011 in KF3 and in 2013 in KZ1, Charles Leclerc who had the upper hand in KF2 back in 2012 in KF2, Nick De Vries in 2011 in KF1, Alex Palou in 2012 in KF3, Lando Norris in 2013 in KF Junior,  as Esteban Ocon was second in KF3 in 2011, Alexander Albon in KF3 in 2010 and 2011, while George Russell and Pierre Gasly have also been among the protagonists of this WSK series. After a long break from 2014 to 2018, the WSK Euro Series has been added back to the calendar in 2019 and was won by United Arab Emirates’ Rashid Al Dhaeri in MINI and by the Italians Andrea Kimi Antonelli in OK-Junior, Lorenzo Travisanutto in OK and Marco Ardigò in KZ2.

Round 2-3 in Lonato. The WSK Euro Series will reach its conclusion at the South Garda Karting circuit in Lonato with Round 3 and Round 4 on September 14th-20th that will follow the same double-event format just ran in Adria. The finals of OK and OK-Junior on September 20th will also be valid for the Italian ACI Sport Championship title.
