Sebastian Wheldon emerged as the fastest across the two Free Practice sessions that opened the Zandvoort weekend. At the Dutch venue, which hosts the second round of the FIA Formula Regional European Championship, the MP Motorsport driver set the overall quickest time in the morning with a lap of 1:30.114 that no one could improve on later in the day as afternoon temperatures rose.
With 20 Tatuus T-326 cars covered by less than one second, Francisco Macedo (Van Amersfoort Racing) topped the second session by posting a 1:31.285 with less than a minute remaining. Fresh from his victory in the closing race of the Red Bull Ring season opener, championship leader Reno Francot briefly headed the timesheets at his home circuit after a red-flag interruption before finishing second for CL Motorsport.

Macedo had already shown strong pace in the morning, where he set the second quickest time behind Wheldon and finished ahead of Reza Seewooruthun (Rodin Motorsport) and the two Prema Racing drivers, Kean Nakamura-Berta and Salim Hanna.
Seewooruthun went on to complete the afternoon session in fifth place, behind Alexandre Munoz, fourth in the leading ART Grand Prix entry, and team-mate Alex Ninovic. Gabriel Gomez (Rodin Motorsport) and Munoz were the top rookies.
Track action will resume tomorrow with the first qualifying starting at 08:55 CEST, split into two 15-minute sessions for Groups A and B, ahead of the first 30-minute race at 16:45 CEST.
