Having already been crowned KZ World Champion, the Formula K brand has now been crowned FIA Karting European Champion in the premier class of world karting. Having put in a highly competitive performance at Genk in May, Emilien Denner literally dominated the Sarno round from pole position right through to his comfortable victory in the Final. The exceptional competitiveness of the IPK factory equipment, combined with the remarkable work of SRP Racing, the performance of the TM Kart engine and the talent of the French driver, led to this triumph at the foot of Vesuvius.
A string of podium finishes for a benchmark chassis
Since the start of the collaboration between the IPK Group - Innovative Products for Karting - and SRP Racing Team, the Formula K chassis has racked up a string of podium finishes in major international events. The development of the equipment has been pushed to the limit in the pursuit of the most prestigious titles. The European Championship title clinched by Emilien Denner following this victory in Italy is the result of the IPK factory’s unwavering commitment to perfection.
Superiority clearly demonstrated in KZ
Right from the start of official competition on the demanding Naples International Circuit, Emilien Denner set the pace in the most competitive category in world karting, clocking the fastest times in both free practice sessions. A few hours later, he confirmed his form with a magnificent pole position at an average speed of over 107 km/h! Over the following two days, the driver racing in Formula K colours consistently crossed the chequered flag in the lead, setting no fewer than three fastest laps, including the fastest in the Final. The Frenchman also set the event’s all-time record.
“Together with the IPK factory and SRP Racing Team, we’ve taken a significant step forward in recent months. The package I was using, with the Formula K chassis and the TM Kart engines developed by Fabian Federer, was absolutely brilliant. At Sarno, I initially focused on this race, without prioritising the Championship. It was hugely satisfying to see that we were almost always the fastest on the track and that I was able to turn that competitiveness into victory by leading the Final from the first to the last lap.”
“My joy was even greater when I learnt that I was European Champion. I really want to thank Daniel Silva, Petr Ulbert, Maik Siebecke, Matthieu Neron, Patric Hautz, Fabian Federer, Mikel Nazabal and everyone who worked towards this victory,” explained Emilien.
Comment from Maik Siebecke, Team Manager at Formula K SRP Factory Team
“What we’ve just achieved with the IPK group in less than two years is incredible. Since the start of the season, we’ve improved everything we could, exploring new solutions. We’re still very fast, but also much more consistent. The decisions we made were the right ones. I’d like to congratulate Emilien Denner on his exceptional weekend. He won everything at Sarno! Matthieu Neron’s contribution as technical director has really paid off.”
“Congratulations also to Markus Kajak, who put in a strong performance as he fought his way back up the field in the Final, as well as to all our KZ2 drivers, particularly Robert Kindervater for his performances throughout the Championship. On a personal note, I am proud to see the SRP team win the FIA European Karting Championship in KZ for the first time, having previously won the title in KZ2. I am sure we have many more great moments ahead of us with IPK and Formula K.”
