The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine officially kicked off the race weekend at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola with the Pre-Event Collective Tests, both held in dry track conditions.
Freddie Slater (Prema Racing) topped the timesheets in the afternoon session, setting the fastest lap of the day with a 1:39.309.
In the morning session, it was Akshay Bohra (R-Ace GP) who impressed, stopping the clock at 1:40.704, narrowly ahead of Matteo De Palo (Trident Motorsport) by just 0.040 seconds. Rashid Al Dhaheri (Prema Racing) continued his strong form from Paul Ricard, ending the session third, just over one tenth behind Bohra.
Jin Nakamura (R-Ace GP) also delivered a solid performance, placing fourth in another R-Ace GP car, ahead of Nikita Bedrin (Saintéloc Racing) and Hiyu Yamakoshi (Van Amersfoort Racing).
Enzo Deligny (R-Ace GP) showed good pace as well, finishing seventh ahead of Slater, his teammate Jack Beeton, and Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing).
In the afternoon, Slater once again came out on top, confirming the excellent form of the current championship leader, who already boasts five victories this season.
Clerot improved his performance in the second session, securing the second-fastest time, followed by a determined Al Dhaheri. The best-performing rookie was once again Dion Gowda (Van Amersfoort Racing), who continues to lead the rookie standings.
Rounding out the top five was Nakamura, who edged out his teammate Bohra and the competitive Bedrin.
