Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine arrives at Paul Ricard for the fifth round of the year

Following an action-packed weekend at the Hungaroring, the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine now moves to the iconic Circuit Paul Ricard for Round 5 of the 2025 season. The title fight remains wide open, with Matteo De Palo (Trident Motorsport) and Freddie Slater (Prema Racing) separated by just four points at the top of the standings: 122 to 118.

De Palo arrives in France off the back of a strong performance in Hungary, where he claimed his maiden pole position and his second win of the season. His consistency has been a key factor, allowing him to regain the championship lead. Slater, meanwhile, responded with a commanding victory in Race 2 and remains the most successful driver so far this season with three wins to his name.

Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP) currently holds third place in the standings with 90 points. The Frenchman secured his first pole position last time out and led for most of Race 2 before being handed a post-race disqualification. Despite the setback, Deligny has shown strong pace throughout the year and remains one of the top contenders.

Just behind is Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing), fourth with 84 points and already a race winner in Zandvoort. He continues to impress with regular top finishes. Close behind is Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix), fifth with 83 points, who claimed victory in Misano and has remained a threat in qualifying and race trim alike.

Hiyu Yamakoshi (Van Amersfoort Racing) sits sixth on 70 points. The Japanese driver has been remarkably consistent, scoring strong points across various circuits. Rashid Al Dhaheri (Prema Racing) is seventh with 57 points and stepped onto the podium again in Hungary with a second-place finish in Race 2.

Akshay Bohra (R-ace GP) follows in eighth with 41 points, showing notable growth and sharp racecraft. Taito Kato (ART Grand Prix), ninth with 32 points, continues to deliver promising performances and has already reached the podium this season. Rounding out the top ten is Kanato Le (ART Grand Prix) with 22 points, having made a strong impression at Spa and the Hungaroring. He sits just one point ahead of Jack Beeton (Prema Racing), who currently holds eleventh place in the standings.

Leading the rookie standings is Dion Gowda (Van Amersfoort Racing), who is also twelfth overall with 18 points. The Indian driver has demonstrated composure and speed in his debut season and already celebrated several rookie podiums. Behind him are Jin Nakamura (R-ace GP) and Nikita Bedrin (Saintéloc Racing), both tied on 17 points. Michael Belov (CL Motorsport), returning to the series this year, sits on 6 points.

Completing the top 17 are Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi (Trident Motorsport) with 6 points and Giovanni Maschio (RPM) with 4.

The weekend at Circuit Paul Ricard will officially kick off on Friday with two collective test sessions scheduled at 11:43 and 16:51. Qualifying 1 will take place on Saturday at 09:00, followed by Race 1 at 13:00. The action will resume on Sunday with Qualifying 2 at 08:00 and Race 2 at 12:30.
