2023 calendars confirmed for GB3 and GB4 Championships

The 2023 GB3 and GB4 Championship calendars have been confirmed by series organiser MotorSport Vision (MSV). GB3 will run to an eight-event schedule, with no fewer than four events on current F1 circuits, whilst GB4’s fixture list features seven events, and will appear on the bill at all UK rounds of the prestigious British GT Championship.

The GB3 calendar will feature two international rounds for the first time, in a landmark moment for the championship. The marquee addition is a maiden visit to Zandvoort, home of the Dutch Grand Prix, supporting GT World Challenge Europe as part of a top-line international event in October. Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps remains on the calendar, this time at the start of June, as part of the Spa Euro Race weekend.  The additional overseas round means GB3 will be elevated to FIA International Series status, subject to FIA approval.

GB3’s usual double visit to the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit ensures half of next year’s events will be held at current Formula 1 venues. The first of these will form part of British GT’s blue riband Silverstone 500 meeting, whilst the second will be a headline fixture for the UK’s leading single-seater championship. Both GB3 and GB4 will maintain MSV’s wider relationship with the SRO-run British GT Championship. GB3 will feature at five British GT events, whilst GB4 will be present at all six of the series’ domestic rounds. For both categories, the season will start at Oulton Park on Easter weekend (8 and 10 April), and conclude at Donington Park on 21/22 October. Visits to the Snetterton 300 and Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuits are included once more.

Both series will feature three races at each event, with 24 GB3 races planned alongside a 21-race campaign for GB4.

MSV Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer said: “The addition of another current F1 circuit to the calendar will further strengthen GB3’s already considerable appeal. This follows on from the series’ most successful season to date in 2022, where we’ve introduced a new car which incorporates the halo and had in excess of 20 drivers on the grid at every round. Zandvoort has re-established itself as part of the Formula 1 calendar and it’s a circuit with a renowned history of F3-level competition. With the visit to Spa-Francorchamps retained alongside two Silverstone Grand Prix circuit meetings, this is an exceptionally strong calendar for this level of single-seater racing.

“GB4’s calendar builds on the success of an inaugural season that has provided a much needed opportunity for underfunded young drivers to progress their single seater careers. Traditional British circuits offer the perfect learning environment, with circuits like Oulton Park, Snetterton and Brands Hatch, in addition to the Grand Prix circuit at Silverstone, providing challenges that have proved so crucial to the development of numerous F1 stars over the decades.

“We’re delighted to be running alongside SRO’s superb British GT Championship once again, and in GB3’s case, strengthening those ties even closer by joining the GT World Challenge bill for the first time.”
