French Formule 20.000 series for 100cc karts of the 90s ready to scream into season 8

Formule 20.000 is set to kick off its 2026 season on 9 and 10 May at the Soucy circuit, located 125 km southeast of Paris. The 100cc air-cooled karts from the 1990s to 2002 will then compete on two international circuits, at Saint-Amand-Montrond and then Laval, before heading to Loudun, a stone’s throw from the beautiful châteaux of the Loire Valley. For the first time, a ranking will be introduced, with a Zamp crash helmet awarded to the season overall winner and a top-notch barbecue for the best driver in the “+10” heavy class. As always, a high-calibre starting grid is expected in a series which, since its inception, has seen 29 former CIK-FIA finalists entering the fray.

The quality of the circuits is undoubtedly one of the strengths of Formule 20.000. Saint-Amand was a very popular venue in the nineties; we particularly remember the 1995 ICA European Championship, which attracted over 230 drivers! In Laval, nine world titles were awarded in the Junior, Formula Supercent, Formula K, Formula A, Formula Super A and Formula C categories. Numerous French championships have been held at Soucy and Loudun, whose layouts are well-suited to the category.

To enter Formule 20.000, drivers not resident in France must hold a national or international licence and an authorisation to race abroad issued by their ASN.

The official slick tyre in Formule 20.000 is the Vega XH4, but it is also possible to use the SL4, as well as the HS6 (6-inch) for karts from 1989 to 1994. All types of wet-weather tyres are permitted. Vega is a partner of the series and offers a set of tyres to the winner of each race. The winner of the pre-final will receive a prize worth €150 from SGI.

The deadline for Round 1’s entry is Thursday, 30 April. Let’s get started!
