DKM starts 2020 with four races
New racecalendar 2020
The Corona pandemic also causes shifts in the racing calendar in the German Kart Championship. After first relaxations in the past days and openings of the kart tracks, the highest German karting series now presents a new racing calendar for the season 2020. Four races are planned between August and October.
The German Kart Championship with its five predicates was supposed to start the new season at the Schweppermannring in Ampfing from May 8th to 10th. Security measures to contain the Covid-19 virus made it impossible to get started. Nevertheless, the organizers have worked in the background on an attractive racing program for the year 2020. Four races are now planned exclusively in Germany.
The beginning will be on the Erftlandring in Kerpen. From August 7th to 9th, the DKM will start the new season at the Erftlandring. Only a few weeks later it continues in Mülsen. The racetrack in Saxony is new to the racing calendar and celebrates its premiere on the last weekend of August (28.-30.08.) as it was planned originally.
Afterwards, the participants have to wait four weeks before going into the second half of the season in Wackersdorf. From the 25th to the 27th of September, the Prokart Raceland is the venue of the races five and six in the DKM season 2020 and could already be a place for first title decisions. The grand finale will take place again in Ampfing. On October 18th the checkered flag of the shortest DKM season in years falls.
So far, 133 participants from all over the world have registered for the five predicates and promise a full and high-calibre field of participants. Registration is still possible to adjusted fees. Classes DKM, DJKM and DSKM pay 2.150 € incl. VAT registration fee, the DSKC only 1,900 € incl. VAT. All participants who have already exceeded their registration fee will receive a refund of the additional amount.
Series coordinator Stefan Wagner is pleased to present a challenging DKM program for this year, despite all the difficulties: "The last few weeks have not been easy for everyone. We had to personally adapt to the limitations and the associated innovations. At the same time, we have taken note of the development in politics and the DMSB has developed a concept for the organization of racing events. It is nice that we have a calendar with four races with the help of all those involved. We are looking forward to it and still hope for full fields and exciting races."
The drivers from the German Electric Kart Championship (DEKM) complete five races. In Kerpen, Mülsen and Ampfing, the E-Karts are on the road together with the DKM. The season opener, on the other hand, will take place from July 3rd to 5th together with the ADAC Kart Masters in Oschersleben. At the beginning of September (04.-06.09.) the world's first pure electric kart championship makes a detour to the Rotax Max Challenge Euro Trophy in Wackersdorf. The official test days are planned just before the start of the season in Oschersleben in July. Drivers from seven nations have already registered for the championship.
