Tony Kart leads the mini category: double success in Muro Leccese

On the occasion of the second and last appointment of the WSK Open Series, their Tony Kart Rookie hits a wonderful double win with Leonardo Gorski, first in the MINI Gr.3, and Achille Rea, indisputable leader in the MINI Gr.3 U10.

The second and last round of the WSK Open Series, in Muro Leccese (Italy), is coloured with green in the MINI classes, thanks to the excellent performance of the Tony Kart Racing Team. At the La Conca circuit, their Tony Kart Rookie chassis, paired with VTM Vortex engines, the OTK Kart Group's "engine division," lead the scene in the MINI Gr.3 and MINI Gr.3 U10 categories.

In MINI Gr.3, Leonardo Gorski gains the top step of the podium after a great comeback in Saturday's final. The Polish driver soon shows off in the single qualifying session, with the fourth best time, and in the first eliminatory heat, with a second place. However, in the second qualifying heat he is forced to stop, while in the third heat, he receives a five-second penalty for having overtook under yellow flags. Despite the 14th place on the grid, Gorski goes wild in the final: on the first lap, he gains the fifth position, while three laps to the finishing line he is able to run in the third place. On lap eight, Leonardo completes his feat by running to the lead. Their driver crosses the finish line first, 1.221 seconds ahead of the second classified.

In his third appearance in the category, Henri Kumpen records a fifth place as his best result in the qualifying heat and places fifth in Friday night's intermediate ranking. Having also run the prefinal, the Belgian driver starts from eighth place in the final, but after one lap he is already fighting for fourth position. Kumpen finishes the race ranked among the top ten. After his second place gained in the opening round at Franciacorta, Oliver Sini runs the eliminatory heats with a constant pace and hits a third place in the pre-final, before being penalized ten seconds by the sporting marshals. The Indonesian driver finishes the final behind his teammate Kumpen.

In the MINI Gr.3 U10, Achille Rea is the undisputed leader of the weekend. In fact, the Italian driver is the author of the pole position in the qualifying heat (52.473 seconds) and scores three wins out of three in the qualifying heats. The Italian driver confirms once more his supremacy both in the pre-final, where he takes first place, and in the final: as the lights go off, Rea immediately takes the lead, gains a good gap over his pursuers and wisely manages his advantage in the final laps of the race. The checkered flag sanctions the well-deserved success of their rider.

Making his debut with the Tony Kart Racing Team, Li Linghan achieves an amazing fourth place in the qualifying and shows off in the qualifying heats with a fifth place as his best position. After a tenth place in the prefinal, the Chinese driver finishes close to the top-15 in Saturday afternoon's final. Tiberius Müller grinds precious kilometres and shows off to be able to distinguish himself in the qualifyings with the fifth best time.

The Tony Kart Racing Team will face a three-week break before going off to the track at the Slovak Karting Center (Slovakia) for the third round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series, reserved for OK and OKJ categories, scheduled for May 30th-June 2nd.
