The KZ World Champions of 2019, the Birel ART Racing Team has just started its FIA European Karting Championship campaign with a masterful victory by Alessandro Irlando. This success was completed by the third step of the podium for Riccardo Longhi and 4th place for Marijn Kremers at the wheel of his Ricciardo Kart. The first Competition of the FIA European Karting Championship - KZ & KZ2 and the FIA Karting Academy Trophy concluded on the circuit of Adria (ITA) after an excellent day of racing. In sunny and warm weather, the last Qualifying Heats preceded the three Finals on Sunday 16th August 2020. The Swedish Driver Gustavsson dominated the KZ2 Final just as the young American Zilisch mastered the Academy Final. The outcome was more uncertain in KZ before the Italian Irlando secured victory after leading for the entire race.

It's hard to see the smiles under the masks, but the Drivers returned to International Competition with great pleasure and excitement for the opening of the FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior, organised from 30th July to 2nd August in Spain, on the Zuera circuit. Undoubtedly due to the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic and the difficulty of moving from one country to another for some of them, the number of entrants announced could not be maintained at the level hoped for by the organisers, with a total of 130 drivers present out of the 183 registered. The young Driver Valerio Rinicella (ITA - Parolin/TM Racing/LeCont) was the fastest in OK-Junior and Taylor Barnard (GBR - KR/IAME/LeCont) achieved a magnificent pole position in OK.

During the final round of the FIA European Karting Championship, Kas Haverkort won a hard-fought sixth place in the OK class. On the circuit of Le Mans, the 15-year old Team NL talent drove five very strong heats, with which he was able to set himself up with P5 on the start grid for the final. Haverkort even had the prospect of a podium finish until the middle of the race, but had to surrender some positions in the closing stages. He eventually seized sixth place in the extremely competitive field, thereby once again showing his talent and fighting spirit.
