Circuit of the Americas, USA - Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team has confirmed that Young Driver Jak Crawford will make his Formula One weekend debut in Free Practice One at the Mexico City Grand Prix next week.
The 20-year-old Texan will drive the AMR25 in FP1 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez before Lance Stroll returns to the car for FP2. The session marks one of the team’s mandated rookie outings this season, providing valuable data while supporting the development of young talent.
The Houston-born racer has gained extensive mileage in Formula One machinery over the years, with over 2,000km logged driving the AMR22, AMR23 and last year’s AMR24. Jak has also been a regular inside the simulator at the AMR Technology Centre in Silverstone throughout the year, consistently providing valuable feedback to support both the AMR25 and development work on the AMR26.
He’s also been an important part of Aston Martin Aramco’s wider activity, taking part in the 2024 Houston demo run and joining Fernando Alonso earlier this week with Aramco in Houston to unveil the team’s bespoke livery ahead of the United States Grand Prix this weekend.
Jak is currently enjoying a standout FIA Formula 2 campaign, sitting second in the Drivers’ Championship as the season heads into the final two races. He most recently claimed pole position and victory of the Feature Race in Baku.
Jak Crawford, Young Driver, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team: “I’m thrilled to drive the AMR25 next week in Mexico for my first official Formula One session. I’ve worked closely with the team all year, so to now take the next step and get track time on a Grand Prix weekend is really exciting. Announcing this in Texas, where I’m from, makes it even more special after a busy week with the team and Aramco in Houston.”
Andy Cowell, CEO and Team Principal, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team: “It’s fantastic to give Jak the opportunity to take part in FP1 in Mexico. He’s shown real maturity and provided strong technical feedback throughout the year, and these sessions are an important part of how we develop young talent. Jak has had a strong season in Formula 2 and has been a key contributor to the development of both the AMR25 and AMR26. This is a great chance for him to continue progressing while helping us gather valuable data.”
