Five races, five victories: Sodikart already crowned champion in KZ2

Three weeks earlier in Viterbo, Sodikart and CPB Sport had made a big impact: a one-two finish in the KZ2 Final, with four drivers in the top four places in the provisional championship standings. In Lonato, at South Garda Karting, one of the most demanding tracks of the early season, they confirmed their dominance with a victory and a 3rd place in the Final. Five victories in five races, a title already secured before the final round, and improving results in the Mini category.

KZ2: undisputed domination

The tone for the weekend was set on Friday. Max Orlov set the fastest time in the first Qualifying session with 44''661, before Senna Van Walstijn immediately beat it in the second session with 44''624 and the lap record to boot. With 1st and 2nd in the combined standings, and Marek Skrivan 3rd with CPB Sport, this group performance already set the tone for the rest of the weekend.

The heats only confirmed what the lap times had suggested. Van Walstijn won every race, Orlov won twice. A total of six wins in six starts, with opponents looking for a weakness but never finding it. In the Prefinal, the trend continued: Van Walstijn won for the fourth time that week, once again setting the fastest lap of the race, while Orlov dominated his Prefinal B with the same ease. The starting grid reflected the weekend's results, with Van Walstijn on pole and Orlov alongside him on the front row.

The Final was always likely to see these two men on the podium. Orlov won with authority and set the fastest lap of the race in 44''814, securing his fifth consecutive victory since the start of the season. Van Walstijn crossed the finish line in 2nd place, but a five-second penalty for moving before the start signal dropped him to 7th place in the Final standings, a misleading result that actually masks a week of almost intimidating consistency. Behind them, Marek Skrivan took 3rd place on the podium, a logical reward for a weekend spent performing at a very high level from start to finish. Jean Nomblot, consistent and focused throughout the event, clinched 9th place and earned valuable points for the championship. In the overall standings, Sodi, already crowned 2026 WSK Super Master Series Champion, is in the top three places with Orlov, Van Walstijn and Skrivan.

Paul Bizalion, CPB Sport Team Principal: "With five races and five wins, we are undefeated. Despite Senna's penalty, Marek made it onto the podium, and we finished with nine drivers in the Final against the sixty best drivers in the category, on a very demanding track, which is quite spectacular. I think it's simply a reflection of remarkable teamwork, driven by an incredible fighting spirit within our team and the once again flawless performance of the Sodikart chassis. Hats off to our engine manufacturers Sani Compétition and Cédric Sport. Their hard work has paid off, with each of them placing one of their engines on the podium! This is striking proof of their expertise. Finally, I would like to congratulate our team managers Florent Bizalion and Thomas Cypers, whose technical responsiveness throughout the week was decisive. We are 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the championship before the final round and already champions. We will certainly be going to Franciacorta to finish the job and maybe even put three drivers on the championship podium."

Mini GR3: Potential confirmed by lap times

With a field of sixty entrants in Mini GR3, Sodikart got off to an excellent start in Qualifying. Liam Barbo set the 3rd fastest time overall, Alfie Garrett the 12th and Amine Pantoli the 14th, putting three drivers at the front of the field. What makes this performance even more significant is that Liam Barbo was making his very first appearance with the factory team. For a driver who is just getting to know the equipment, finishing 3rd in Qualifying at Lonato is no mean feat.

Barbo started from the front row at each start, but suffered several setbacks during the race, which ultimately prevented him from qualifying for the Final after a ruthless intermediate classification.

Pantoli, who finished a fine 2nd in the A-B heat, suffered a technical problem at the start of the Final and started from the pit lane. Although effectively out of the race, he nevertheless completed all the laps, demonstrating his impeccable spirit.

In the end, it was Alfie Garrett who flew the Sodikart flag with the most consistency: 6th in the Prefinal and 12th on the Final grid, he fought his way up to 8th place, posting lap times close to the best throughout the race and achieving the best result in the category since the start of the year.

Adrien Leidinger, Sodikart Team Manager: "This weekend in Lonato is encouraging, but what strikes me most are the lap times: three drivers in the leading pack, including Liam Barbo in 3rd place on his very first outing with our equipment. On a benchmark circuit like Lonato, this clearly validates our level of performance. Alfie Garrett finished his weekend in 8th place in the Final, but he had the pace to aim higher. Bad luck cost Amine and Liam dearly, and that's where it hurts. The potential is real, our equipment is improving and that's the most important thing for us today."

Franciacorta to conclude

Lonato is part of an unshakeable trajectory. In KZ2, domination is total and the championship is already in the bag. In the Mini categories, development is ongoing and the results are starting to reward the hard work put in. The next stop is Franciacorta for the final round of the WSK Super Master Series, where Sodikart and CPB Sport will be competing with an additional goal: to place three drivers on the championship podium.
