Charouz Racing System is pleased to announce that Ayrton Simmons is the third driver to join their lineup for the 2022 FIA Formula 3 championship. Together with Hungarian László Tóth and Italian Francesco Pizzi, the British driver will therefore continue to race under the colors of the Czech team starting from the official test sessions, scheduled in Bahrain on March 2-4.

Fortec Motorsport has confirmed Jessica Edgar as the team’s first driver for the new GB4 Championship partnered by the BRDC. The 16-year-old from Ennerdale in Cumbria has enjoyed several test days with the team in recent weeks, and the new season will mark her first campaign in car racing following a successful karting career.

Van Amersfoort Racing completes its Euroformula Open driver line-up by adding Sebastian Øgaard to the team. The Dane will compete together with Filip Ugran and Nicola Marinangeli in the 2022 edition of the EFO championship. Øgaard, who just turned eighteen last week, graduates to the 2022 Euroformula Open championship after securing the runner-up position in last year’s edition of the Spanish Formula 4 championship.

Zak O’Sullivan, Williams Racing Academy Driver, was named winner of the BRDC Young Driver of the Year award on Sunday night. The British driver claimed the prestigious accolade after impressing in a series of evaluations, which included fitness and simulator elements and a two-day test at Silverstone.

Colombian youngster Nicolás Baptiste Velasco has signed to drive for FA Racing in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA), the 16-year-old from Bogotá stepping up for his debut season in the category.

Franco Colapinto will make his FIA F3 championship debut with Van Amersfoort Racing this year. Colapinto, a Buenos Aires native, steps up from racing in both LMP2 and the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine in 2021.

Van Amersfoort Racing is excited to announce the joining of Romanian Filip Ugran. The 19-year-old will compete for the Dutch team in the upcoming Euroformula Open Championship, which starts early May at the Autódromo do Estoril.

He had a remarkable season in the FIA F2 Championship in 2021, but there was no lack of setbacks. He is preparing for his entry into Formula 1 without any great pressure and the maturity that emerges from his words contrasts with his youth and his ever-smiling attitude. 

The Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup will extend to the GB4 Championship partnered by the BRDC in 2022, as well as offering a significantly increased prize package in the GB3 Championship. The new season marks the 10th successive year the prize has been awarded, with £36,000 in prize money handed to drivers and teams since 2013. Previous winners include Jake Hughes, George Russell and 2021 champion Zak O’Sullivan.

Mexican Rafael Villagómez will return to the FIA F3 championship for a second campaign. He will do so with Van Amersfoort Racing, with whom he battled in the 2021 edition of the Euroformula Open championship. Rafael will compete alongside his recently announced teammate Reece Ushijima.

Graduating from both GB3 and the Asian F3 championship in 2021, Ushijima makes his debut in the FIA F3 championship this season with the black and orange outfit from the Netherlands.
