Karting ace Qarrar Firhand stays with Fortec for GB4 Winter Series

Indonesian karting star Qarrar Firhand will stay with Fortec Motorsports as he switches over to GB4 ahead of this weekend’s Winter Series at Snetterton (24/25 October).

The 15-year-old is one of his country’s most exciting young racing talents, having secured the WSK Euro Series OK karting title earlier this year. After a sensational campaign, he became the first Indonesian driver to win the series, which has previously featured current F1 stars Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, George Russell and Kimi Antonelli.

His WSK Euro Series title was the ideal culmination to a karting career which began in his homeland before moving into international competition, including stints in the WSK Super Master Series and FIA Karting Championships across Europe.

Other karting highlights have included second place in the Trofeo D’Autunno in 2022, and third in the ROK Winter Trophy in the same year. He’s also secured top-five championship finishes in the ROK Cup Superfinal, Trofeo delle Industrie and the Trofeo Andrea Margutti.

Having wrapped up the title, he then graduated to the British F4 Championship and contested the final two rounds at Silverstone and Brands Hatch with Fortec Motorsports. He now gears up for his first taste of GB4, joining fellow karting graduate Max Yuill in the team’s line-up on the growing grid for this weekend’s action at Snetterton.

Qarrar Firhand: “I’m really excited to continue with Fortec for the GB4 Winter Series. It’s a new challenge for me, and I’m looking forward to learning the car, gaining experience, and continuing to develop as a driver.”

Team Principal Oliver Dutton: “It’s great that Qarrar is extending his stay with us to cover the GB4 Winter Series at Snetterton. He’s a really promising driver and one that will benefit from the extra track time the series offers. While he’s not yet driven the GB4 car, he’ll have plenty of time to get to trips with it in testing, and we’re confident he will build on his results as the weekend progresses.”
