After 4 months of forced stop due to the Covid-19 emergency, the International karting season resumes with the WSK championships and a new calendar. In Adria, the WSK Super Master Series will reach its conclusion with Rounds 3 and 4, while the WSK Euro Series will kick off from Sarno and end with a double round in Lonato. The WSK Open Cup will take place in Adria, while the WSK Final Cup in Sarno.

Karting season by WSK is set to restart from Adria on July 5th with a new calendar after the long stop due to the Covid-19 emergency. A new racing format will be proposed in some occasions. The complete calendar will include the final races of WSK Super Master Series and the WSK Euro Series, WSK Open Cup and WSK Final Cup.   

Originally from Belgium, Cash van Belle has lived in Italy for fifteen years for professional karting reasons. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to look after great drivers such as Bas Lammers, Jérémy Iglesias, Max Verstappen and George Russell. He is currently the team manager of the official racing department of the IPK factory, which runs the Praga Kart and Formula K brands. Here is his view of the situation in Italy in mid-May 2020.

WSK Promotion is waiting to resume the on-track activity and launched a collaboration with Tatuus for virtual challenges among karting and formula drivers. The first appointment with the WSK E-Sport Championship will be in Adria with F4 cars and Imola with F3 Regional. This new initiative is due to kick off soon.

So after a spectacular start to this, the 15th season of WSK Promotion, we now have temporary pause… A perfect opportunity then to see why the letters WSK are synonymous with world-class motorsport.

Among the objectives, recovering the postponed races considering also the chance of two events per weekend and sanitary safety through a protocol to allow the restart of WSK Championships.

The Covid-19 emergency requires a reschedule of the WSK calendar and the two events originally scheduled for May 3rd in La Conca and May 24th in Sarno have been “frozen” and postponed. The promoter is committed to define a new calendar and to have a regular running of the 2020 WSK Championships.

The races in the WSK 2020 calendar that were postponed for the Coronavirus emergency have been re-positioned, but confirmation is still pending: WSK Super Master Series will take place on May 3rd in La Conca and May 24th in Sarno, WSK Euro Series on June 7th in Lonato, July 26th in Adria and August 2nd in Sarno.

WSK Promotion is committed to safeguard the safety of all drivers and staff and, for sporting equity, following the latest limitations imposed by the recent Decree-Law to limit the spread of the Coronavirus, decided to postpone all the forthcoming rounds of WSK Super Master Series (due on March 15th and 22nd) and WSK Euro Series (March 29th).

Free practice of the next two rounds in Sarno – the closer of WSK Super Master Series (on March 22nd) and the opener of WSK Euro Series (March 29th) – will begin on the Wednesdays.

Due to the Covid-19 emergency and following the ACI Sport communication on March 2nd 2020, the third round of WSK Super Master Series in La Conca has been postponed from March 5-8th 2020 to March 12-15th 2020 at the same venue, the International Circuit La Conca.

The official testing ahead of the third round of WSK Super Master Series of March 5-8th, 2020 is underway in Muro Leccese this weekend. A lot of drivers are gearing up to contest categories OK, OKJ and Mini with the main constructors and teams.

The second round of WSK Super Master Series named new leaders. The opener of KZ2 was won by Giuseppe Palomba, Joe Turney took the lead in OK and Arvid Lindblad in OKJ. Gerasim Skulanov confirms his lead in Mini.

In the second round of the WSK Super Master Series, the drivers of the Exprit Racing Team see the results of their efforts at the start of the season and continue their growth path.

The Parolin Racing Kart team has again recorded very good performances at Lonato during the second round of the WSK Super Master Series, especially in the Mini category. The competition proved to be more difficult in OK and OK-Junior.

In Lonato, Joseph Turney wins ahead of Pedro Hiltbrand in OK. Their two drivers are now first and second in the general rating of the Series.

The official Birel ART Racing team confirmed its incredible level of performance in the WSK Super Master Series with a victory and a podium in KZ2 at Lonato, a week after their double victory at the Winter Cup. Giuseppe Palomba triumphed over his rivals and adverse circumstances at the end of a memorable Final that also saw Alessandro Irlando climb on the 3rd step of the podium. The Junior drivers also put in some great performances.

The second round of WSK Super Master Series in Lonato saw some new drivers coming to the fore. Palomba claimed the win in KZ2, Turney in OK and  Lindblad in OK-Junior. Skulanov repeated the win of Adria in Mini.
