The first titles of the Italian ACI Karting Championship awarded in Adria

The fourth round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship has been a difficult race in Adria for the 188 drivers present in the categories KZ2, 60 Mini, Iame X30 Junior and Senior, Rok Junior and Senior, the latter two contesting the closing round of their season.

Mutable weather conditions that affected most of Italy and the very hot weather has been replaced by thunderstorms on Saturday in qualifying heats, while the rain has fallen on Sunday morning making it tricky for race-1. The situation improved a bit in the afternoon for race-2 on a humid tarmac.

Tonteri and Iacovacci victorious in KZ2. Cunati gets the lead

KZ2’s race-1 was won by the Finn Paavo Tonteri (Tony Kart-Vortex) who did not have problems to win on the wet, as he did on Saturday in the second soaking wet heat. The second position went to Simone Cunati (CRG-Tm), who pulled away in the classification, while Francesco Comanducci (Tony Kart-Tm) was third and Leonardo Marseglia (BirelArt-Tm) pulled a good fourth leading Giuseppe Palomba (Croc-Tm). The latter started from the pole position but lost a few places at the start of the race due to a spin. Palomba ended the race in fifth place nevertheless.

The second final of KZ2 was won by Francesco Iacovacci (Maranello-Tm), who started from the pole position due to the top eight grid inversion. Palomba kept P2 for a long time, but then lost some ground and was overtaken by the Swede Brandon Nilsson (Righetti Ridolfi-Tm) and by Cunati, who incremented his championship lead in this way. Palomba was fourth leading Marseglia, while Comanducci was sixth and proceeded Tonteri.

The Russian Kutskov dominating 60 Mini

The first final of 60 Mini started in slow regime due to the rain. Race-1 was won by the Russian Kirill Kutskov (Energy-Tm) at the end of a regular race. Manuel Scognamiglio (Tony Kart-Tm) was second and the Brit Coskun Irfan (Tony Kart-Vortex) third. The other top positions went to the other Brit William Macintyre (Parolin-Tm), Flavio Olivieri (Parolin-Tm), Antonio Apicella (Energy-Tm) and the Jamaican Alex Powell (Energy-Tm). The American Miguel Costa (Parolin-Tm) was sixth at the flag but won the special classification for Under 10.

Kutskov won also the second final, leading Macintyre and Giovanni Trentin this time around. Scognamiglio was fourth and proceeded Costa (who won again Under 10) and Powell.

Gallo victorious in X30 Junior’s race-1, Trulli in race-2

The first victory in this category went to Paolo Gallo (Tony Kart-Iame), who run a good race and was favoured by the penalty handed to Enzo Trulli (KR-Iame) due to the dropped front fairing as the son of former F1 driver Jarno Trulli had a contact in the closing stages. The second place went therefore to Nikolas Pujatti (KR-Iame) and the third to Brando Badoer (Parolin-Iame), who was at his maiden race in the Italian Championship. Classification leader Cristian Bertuca (BirelArt-Iame) was fifth. Trulli bounced back in the second final and claimed the win leading Pujatti, while Bertuca was third. Badoer was penalized this time and slipped down from P2 to P4.

Double win for Carenini in X30 Senior

Danny Carenini (Tony Kart-Iame) did not struggle much to win X30 Senior’s race one from P3. He was followed by classification leader Edoardo Ludovico Villa (TB Kart-Iame) and Leonardo Caglioni (KR-Iame). Carenini won again race-2 at the end of a great comeback from P8 due to the top eight grid inversion. Behind Carenini, Vittorio Maria Russo on KR-Iame run by Team Driver and his teammate Mattia Ingolfo. The fourth place went to Villa who increased his classification lead since Caglioni, was sixth behind Leonardo Fornaroli (KR-Iame).

The Italian title of Rok Junior to Ragone

Pietro Rangone won again in Rok Junior. The undisputed leader of the championship won his fifth race in a row and claimed the title of Italian Champion. Rangone won the race on Tony Kart-Vortex thanks to a penalty handed to Matteo Zaffarano due to the dropped front fairing following a contact. Zaffarano was demoted to second from P1 while Riccardo Colombo was third. Donno won race-2 leading Zaffarano and Colombo, all on Tony Kart-Vortex. Ragone was off the podium this time.

Molinari is the new Rok Senior Italian Champion

Race-1 of Rok Senior was won by Leonardo Moncini (Exprit-Vortex) who proceeded Nicolò Cuman (Tecno-Vortex) and Davide Cordera (FA-Vortex). Classification leader David Locatelli (Kosmic-Vortex) was sixth instead. Moncini had to retire from race-2 as Locatelli and Simone Ortenzi due to an incident. The second final was therefore won by Marco Bernardi (Mach1-Vortex), thanks also to the good choice of using slick tyres on a track that was drying up. Lorenzo Cardamone was second and Federico Biagioli third. The Italian Championship was won by Giorgio Molinari (Exprit-Vortex) who came sixth in race-2.

Complete classifications are available at www.acisport.it

The next round will take place on September 1st in Val Vibrata (Teramo)
