Emma Scarbrough to represent KICK Sauber F1 Team in F1 Academy rookie test

Hinwil – American emerging talent, Emma Scarbrough, will represent KICK Sauber F1 Team in the first F1 Academy rookie test, taking place in Navarra, Spain, at the end of the month. The 17-year-old will drive a team-branded car, operated by Rodin Motorsport, in a six-hour-long test across two sessions.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Emma began her racing career in karting at an early age, quickly showing both skill and determination. The talented American has high aspirations for herself, as she works towards her ultimate goal of competing at the highest levels of motorsport.

In 2025, Emma is competing in the USF Juniors Championship, where, despite her rookie status, she currently sits in fourteenth place in the standings and is the top female driver in the series – a testament to her promising talent and consistency on track. Looking beyond competition within her native United States, Emma is also expanding her experience internationally with multiple F4 tests in Europe, preparing for the next stage of her single-seater career.

The F1 Academy rookie test will take place at the Navarra circuit on 17-18 September. Ahead of track action, all rookies will be joining engineering observation, briefings, and physical and cognitive assessments, in a programme designed to put them in the best possible position to deliver on track.

Jonathan Wheatley, Team Principal, KICK Sauber F1 Team: “We are pleased to support Emma as she prepares to take part in the first F1 Academy rookie test. She is a determined young driver with plenty of potential, and this opportunity will mark an important step in her development path. F1 Academy is doing a fantastic job in creating opportunities for young female drivers, something we strongly believe in and are proud to back, counting on Rodin Motorsport’s decades-long experience with junior drivers. It’s great to see up-and-coming talents like Emma getting the chance to show what they can achieve, and we are looking forward to seeing her out on track.”

Emma Scarbrough, driver: “I am excited to take part in the F1 Academy rookie test at the Navarra circuit later this month. I look forward to the opportunity to compete alongside some of the most talented young female drivers. This two-day programme is groundbreaking and truly is a game-changer for those, like me, looking to break into the upper levels of motorsport. I am very grateful that KICK Sauber F1 Team, Rodin Motorsport, and F1 Academy have given me the chance to showcase my talent at this test, and I intend to show that their trust is well placed.”

Benn Huntingford, Sporting Director, Rodin Motorsport: “Supporting young drivers as they take the next step in their careers is at the heart of what we do at Rodin Motorsport. Emma has shown real promise in her early racing and is already proving she has the determination needed to progress in this sport. The F1 Academy rookie test is a valuable opportunity for her to learn and showcase her ability on an international stage, and we are proud to play a part in that journey with KICK Sauber F1 Team.”
