LeCont ensures driver satisfaction at Franciacorta

Since the beginning of October, the Franciacorta paddock has echoed with the sound of 125cc gearbox engines from the various KZ categories. With 203 participants, the Champions of the Future Shifter kicked off the action on the initiative of promoter RGMMC. From 9th to 12th October, FIA Karting will take over with the World Championship, with no fewer than 253 drivers expected in the Italian region of Brescia. Clearly, as manufacturer LeCont is supplying the KZ, KZ2 and KZ2 Masters in these two prestigious events, world-class drivers and their teams have enjoyed racing with premium tyres offering optimum performance, perfectly suited to their powerful karts!

44.898: LeCont breaks yet another record

The 45-second barrier was broken at Franciacorta! In Qualifying, Italy's Danilo Albanese took pole position in KZ with a time of 44.898 at an average speed of over 104 km/h! In KZ2, 5 kilos heavier, Maksim Orlov came close to achieving the same feat with his sensational time of 45.075. By comparison, the clock stopped at 46.323 at the Italian Championship in September and at 45.439 at a major international competition held during the first part of the season.

Albanese's fastest lap was not an isolated performance. During the morning warm-ups on Saturday and Sunday, Sweden's Viktor Gustafsson clocked 44.832 and then 44.797. In the final Free Practice sessions on Friday, Germany's David Trefilov clocked 44.770, before the Netherlands' Senna Van Walstijn improved further with 44.764, the fastest time of the three days. Van Walstijn also demonstrated the consistency of LeCont tyres. Between the 13th and last lap of the Final, the Dutchman set times ranging from 44.980 for the best to 45.087 for the "worst": a total of 12 consecutive laps within the same tenth of a second!

Large fields and spectacular racing

Between the two Champions of the Future Shifter events in May and October, the number of drivers doubled from 76 to 155 in the KZ and KZ2 categories. Undoubtedly, the LeCont "effect" is the cause of this phenomenon, and the appeal of Italy and the Franciacorta circuit must also be emphasised. Satisfaction was also palpable among the drivers in the KZ2 Masters category, who are looking for enjoyment as much as results.

On the sporting front, LeCont congratulates all the drivers who produced some absolutely thrilling races at Franciacorta. Suspense resigned over both the Finals and the overall series standings. In KZ, Spain's Pedro Hiltbrand won the Final ahead of Senna Van Walstijn and Italy's Lorenzo Travisanutto, but it was Van Walstijn who took the crown. In KZ2, Finland's Kimi Tani and Germany's Simon Rechenmacher were powerless to stop Maksim Orlov, who won the Final and the series. In KZ2 Masters, Italy's Angelo Lombardo pulled away lap after lap from his compatriots Davide Fore and Riccardo Nalon, who set the fastest lap in 45.945.
