The last European Competition of the 2018 FIA Karting season kept all its promises at the Aunay-les-Bois / Essay circuit. Exceptional performances and multiple twists came with the victories by Gabriele Mini' in OK Junior and Dexter Patterson in OK. But the titles went to drivers who had accumulated enough points in the ranking previously to negotiate this last competition with relative caution, a task that is not always easy. Paul Aron (EST) is the new FIA Karting European Junior Champion, while Hannes Janker (DEU) has become FIA Karting European Champion in OK without finishing the Final.
An attentive observer of the entire Essay Competition, CIK-FIA Vice President Kees van de Grint wanted to share his enthusiasm for this great sporting event in Normandy: "The Essay Competition again offered a fantastic karting weekend, as the sport should always be.

In Essay (FRA), 24 Qualifying Heats were run under increasing heat this Saturday, 4th August, 2018. The sporting intensity grew in parallel with the rise in temperatures as we approach the end of this crucial phase of the 4th and last FIA Karting European Championships Competition for OK and OK-Junior. Junior poleman Bedrin remained in control, while Patterson and Thompson dominated the OK category. Six heats remain on the programme for Sunday morning before we will know the 34 finalists of the two categories in the running.

At the Aunay les Bois / Essay International Circuit (FRA), high temperatures accompanied the opening phase of the fourth and final FIA Karting European Championship for OK and the FIA Karting European Junior Championship Competition. After three Qualifying sessions, Dexter Patterson was fastest in the OK class, while Nikita Bedrin took pole position in OK-Junior. Although several drivers entered at the Championships were not present at the French Kart Grand Prix, the overall field still exceeded 130 drivers and of course no defections were registered among the title contenders. The air temperature exceeded 33°, while the new track surface at Essay reached 50°. In these difficult conditions for the Drivers and the equipment, the Qualifying Practices happened perfectly on the 1215m of the Norman circuit. In each category, the performances were mostly equivalent between the three groups.

The fourth and closing round of the CIK-FIA European Championship will take place on the French circuit of Essay from August 3rd to 5th. CRG colors will be protagonist with Hiltbrand, who is currently second in the standings, and Bortoleto, presently third in OK-Junior.

The Kosmic Racing Department willget back on track on the French circuit of Essay, seat of the last round of the FIA Karting European Championship reserved for OK and OKJ categories, on August 2^nd-5th.

On the occasion of the next weekend of August 2nd-5th, the Tony Kart Racing Team’s drivers will fight on the French circuit of Essay for the European titles reserved for OK and OKJ classes.

The official supplier for the KZ and KZ2 categories at the European Championships, as well as the CIK-FIA Academy Trophy, the tyre manufacturer LeCont has fulfilled its contract perfectly thanks to products that have ensured performance and durability on a benchmark circuit for all teams and drivers: the famous South Garda Karting at Lonato. The Kart Grand Prix of France, organised from 2nd to 5th August at Aunay les Bois / Essay will award the titles of FIA Karting European Champion - OK and FIA Karting European Champion - Junior after the four Competitions of the 2018 season. Hannes Janker (DEU) appears as the favourite in the OK category, while Paul Aron (EST) is in a strong position in OK-Junior. However, several Drivers are still able to challenge for the two Championships where the verdict will only be known after the finish line of the Finals.

The Frenchman Adrien Renaudin has just experienced a historic success on a Sodi chassis from the CPB Sport team. In recent years, Sodi has shone at the highest level of international competition with the drivers of the factory team in the KZ category, but this is the first time that the European Championship in KZ2 has rewarded the French brand.

After his victory in the Italian Championship a week earlier, Suleiman Zanfari remained in the same dynamic during the second of the three events of the 2018 CIK-FIA Academy Trophy. The Moroccan motorsport hopeful has worthily represented the colours of his country and the FRMSA (Royal Moroccan Federation of Motor Sports).

Christoph Hold obtained a positive result in the Final of the closer of the KZ European Chamopionship after two retirements in the heats in a torrid weekend at Lonato.

The closing round of the European Championship, race that awarded the KZ title to Jorrit Pex (CRG) and KZ2’s to Adrien Renaudin (Sodi), enjoyed a great organization at the South Garda Karting. The Italian Federico Albanese claimed the victory in Academy Trophy.

The last day of the Italian Grand Prix kept all its promises. It was hot on the track of Lonato, where the spectacle was constant, especially during the three Finals. The penalty received by Italy's Paolo De Conto, who finished 1st under the chequered flag, gave Fabian Federer the win and the CIK-FIA European KZ Championship to Dutchman Jorrit Pex.

The Saturday Qualification Heats brought great intensity, many passes and uncertainties at Lonato, on a track always conducive to the spectacle. In high temperatures, Drivers and engines suffered in this second and final Competition of the CIK-FIA European Championships for KZ and KZ2, as well as for Round 2 of the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

The South Garda Karting circuit in Lonato is back on the CIK-FIA Competition calendar after a long absence. A legendary track in the North of Italy, it is the site most visited by the competitors, the teams and the factories of international karting. This is where the outcome of the CIK-FIA European KZ and KZ2 Championships will be decided, while the 2018 edition of the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy will see the second of its three Competitions. With 153 Drivers in northern Italy, warm sunny weather, very tight gaps, surprises and not all of the favourites well placed after the timed sessions, the Qualifying Heats and Final already promise a big show for the second and last Competition of the CIK-FIA European Championships for KZ and KZ2, as well as for the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

The second and closing round of the European KZ and KZ2 Championship will take place from July 13th to 15th at the South Garda Karting circuit in a joint event with the CIK-FIA Academy Trophy.
