The contenders at FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior Competitions are of an excellent level, both in number and quality. 183 Drivers, 88 in OK and 95 in Junior, have registered for the FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior. They represent 43 nations and four continents, and hopefully all of them will have the opportunity to travel to Spain for the occasion, as international travel is still subject to some restrictions depending on country of origin.

International Karting has finally returned on the eve of the 1^st FIA race of the season: the European Championship for the OK and OK Junior classes, which this year due to COVID-19, will be held over 3 races instead of 4 after the cancellation of the scheduled race in Kristianstad, Sweden. Spain also risked to be cancelled due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus in the region of Aragón, but the FIA promoter managed to confirm the event and, albeit with many precautions, without the public as spectators and with many drivers being absent, the season will officially begin. After Spain, the season events move to the Italian track in Sarno on August 23^rd and will close in Germany in Wackersdorf on September 13^th.

The Racing teams are back on the Circuito Internacional de Zuera, where the FIA Karting season will be finally starting with the first of the three appointments for the OK and OKJ categories, starting on the weekend of July 30th – August 2nd.

Parolin Racing Kart travelled to Spain with seven drivers to take part in the first round of the new Champions of the Future series at the Zuera circuit. The performance of the official Parolin-TM Racing karts with LeCont tyres in the same conditions as the next FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior was convincing, two weeks before the European grand opening.

After the long interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the FIA Karting Competitions will finally be able to resume with the first of the three FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior Competitions organised in Spain, on the Zuera circuit from 31st July to 2nd August, 2020. The entry list, with more than 180 names, is a testament to the motivation of the Drivers and teams to get back on track.

Claudio Flenghi, co-founder of TM Racing, passed away on Sunday 12th July 2020 at the age of 79. With his passing, a great figure of karting has gone. Since 1977, TM Racing engines have shone in kart racing, where over the years they have attained a dazzling track record, while the brand was also successfully developing a range of competition motorcycles.

The young Dutchman Thomas ten Brinke made a breakthrough on the international stage in 2018 before reaping the rewards of his talent and hard work the following year. Third in the FIA Karting European Championship - Junior, he went on to win the FIA Karting World Championship - Junior in Finland. Always loyal to the British team RFM, at the age of 15 he was planning to compete in OK for a full season. The coronavirus decided otherwise. In an interview conducted at the end of June 2020, Thomas shares his views on the last few months and the imminent resumption of racing.

Since the beginning of the 90s, the Italian Alessandro Manetti has made an impact on the highest level of kart racing. Three times FIA Karting European Champion between 1991 and 2007, double FIA Karting World Champion in Formula A and Formula Super A, his talent and the care with which he has maintained his physical condition have allowed him to stay at the top for many years both in the direct drive categories and at the wheel of a gearbox kart for different brands. He created his own team, Manetti Motorsport, in 2018, achieving very convincing results since last year with a growing number of drivers. In an interview conducted just after mid-June 2020, he shares his concerns as head of a private team.

Young women drivers are poised to become Ferrari’s first-ever female racing professionals as a result of an exciting and innovative talent detection programme by the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission and its first major partner, Scuderia Ferrari.

A former KZ driver, Sandro Lorandi created the Babyrace team to support his sons Alessio and Leonardo in their debut in kart racing. With the good results, the team quickly grew to become one of the most successful at international level. Alessio won the first CIK-FIA KF-Junior World Championship in 2013 in Bahrain. Despite the transition of his two sons to single-seater racing, Sandro Lorandi continues to satisfy his passion for motor sport by training young drivers for high-level competition at the Babyrace Driver Academy. At the beginning of June 2020, he takes stock of the upcoming resumption of competition as the COVID-19 situation improves day by day.

Coming from a family strongly involved in kart racing, the young Dutchman Marijn Kremers found the Holy Grail at the age of 21 by being crowned 2019 FIA Karting World Champion - KZ on the Lonato circuit (ITA). He then made the choice to turn to Motorsport before his plans were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. He takes stock of the situation at the beginning of June 2020.

The ASN of Sweden, Svenska Bilsportförbundet, has informed the CIK-FIA that the organiser of the Swedish Competition of the FIA Karting European Championship - OK and Junior has had to resign itself to cancel the event scheduled from 9th to 12th July 2020 in Kristianstad (SWE) due to circumstances regarding the COVID-19.

A former top-level kart driver, Joakim Ward has diversified his activities since the creation of his company in 1991. In particular, he manages the import and distribution of several brands in Sweden and neighbouring countries and has developed his own range of rental karts.

Due to the complex situation surrounding the restart of karting events, have the organisation decided together with the local club to cancel the First round of the 2020 Champions of the Future which was set to take place the 25-28 of June 2020.

Faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, Sweden chose a different path to its European neighbours. The Swedish government informs and makes recommendations without imposing them, showing great confidence in individual responsibility. For the time being, the self-discipline of the Swedes seems to be quite effective, as the disease is no more widespread than in European countries that have strictly enforced lockdown. As everywhere else, the development of the situation remains difficult to predict.
