As soon as the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, the FIA worked with the Medical Commission headed by Professor Saillant, on an infection-control protocol to guarantee optimal safety for the organisation of the Competitions. The CIK-FIA then used this procedure for the FIA Karting Championships.

CRG is pleased to announce the extension of the collaboration agreement with Paolo Ippolito for the 2021 season. The Tuscan driver, born in 1996, comes from a positive 2020 with the colours of the CRG Official Team in the KZ class and this year he will also be a benchmark for the Italian manufacturer's driver line up.

The curtain fell on Arthur Rogeon’s 2020 season in November on the final evening of the world championship in Portugal. In-depth reflections then began to analyse the months that had passed to prepare the best strategy for the driver from the Pays de la Loire region of France to move up to OK, the top category in ‘traditional’ direct drive karting. After talking to several Italian factories, it was decided that the best course for him to follow would be to join CRG, winner of a raft of world titles.

As everyone knows, nothing went as planned in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the face of unforeseen circumstances, it was necessary to react and adapt. The CIK-FIA quickly took the measure of this new context, but the decisions were taken without hesitation after many exchanges with the karting stakeholders.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made 2020 a particularly difficult year for the entire world, including the motorsport family. Nevertheless, the FIA Karting Championships were able to take place with good sporting representativeness in compliance with health protocols.

CRG is pleased to announce the renewal of the contract for the 2021 season with the OK driver Rasmus Joutsimies. The Finnish driver did an excellent job in 2020 with the official team, culminating with the 8th place at the FIA ​​World Championship and CRG management decided to extend the collaboration also for the 2021 season to give continuity to a work that is going on in the right direction.

CRG is pleased to announce a new important technical collaboration agreement with the NGM Motorsport team, which from the 2021 season will use CRG technical material in all categories and championships in which the team will take part. In particular, the collaboration with CRG will be very close for the KZ2 category, in which the Venetian team will line up three drivers of undisputed value: Giacomo Pollini, Natalia Balbo and Leonardo Bizzotto. NGM Motorsport is a very important reality in the field of national and international karting and boasts in its palmares various Italian titles and two prestigious placings in FIA events: 3rd place in the KZ2 World Cup last year and 2nd place in the European Championship 2018.

CRG is pleased to announce the agreement with the French driver Arthur Rogeon, who will join the CRG Racing Team in the main races of the OK category in the 2021 season.

From January 2021, Sodi Racing Team will take on a new dimension, in order to pursue its development objectives in the international KZ / KZ2 / OK-J / Mini CIK categories.

For its return to the gearbox categories, Parolin Racing Kart has chosen to put it's faith in the talent and experience of Francesco Celenta. The Italian driver has many top results in KZ and KZ2 on his record, notably acquired with Parolin a few years ago.

CRG has made official the first piece of its drivers’ line-up for 2021 by announcing Alex Irlando for the KZ category. The agreement with the Apulian driver is part of a large project to strengthen its Racing Team, which CRG is undertaking especially for the KZ categories.

A benchmark team in the international karting paddock, Energy Corse has not failed to put its drivers on the way to the podium in recent weeks. After his title in the WSK Super Master Series, Russian Dmitry Matveev won the first edition of the Champions of the Future series in 60 Mini. And at the OK-Junior World Championship in Portimao, Japan's Schu Dozono was a revelation in the colours of the Italian team. Once again, the experience and know-how of the technical staff played a big role in these successes.

The FIA ​​Karting World Championship for the OK and OKJ classes ended with a positive balance for the CRG colours. Despite a difficult weather, which alternated between dry and wet conditions several times over the weekend, Rasmuss Joutsimies and Rubén Moya López ended the Final in the top ten, in 8th and 10th place respectively.

At the beginning of November, the FIA Karting OK and Junior World Championship concluded a 2020 season disrupted by serious health problems on a global scale. Everyone worked hard to try to make up for the time lost away from the circuits. Well prepared, the Parolin Racing Team approached the major world meeting with serenity, but the Portuguese weather conditions upset its plans.

At the highest international level of karting, James Wharton has just competed in the biggest event of the season's calendar: the OK World Championship. Arriving at the Portuguese circuit in Portimao with great ambitions, the Australian rookie confirmed his place among the top 20 drivers in the world. After a difficult Qualifying session due to the constantly changing weather conditions, James Wharton was forced to start in 29th position, before moving up to 17th under the chequered flag.

Just as the colours of the sky kept changing during the weekend in the south of Portugal, the Birel ART Racing team went through all kinds of emotions during the highly anticipated World Championship in the OK and OK-Junior categories. Whether with the Brazilian Matheus Morgatto in OK or the Pole Tymoteusz Kucharczyk in OK-Junior, the podium was a strong possibility considering the performances displayed during the Qualifying phases. The Finals, which were held in difficult rainy conditions, were, unfortunately, a real disappointment for every member of the Italian team. See you in 2021...

The conclusion of the 2020 FIA Karting World Championship - OK & Junior had no lack of turnarounds before crowning two new British Champions. The omnipresent rain on Sunday 8th November on the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve played a major role in the final outcome. Freddie Slater, winner in the last metres in the Junior category, and Callum Bradshaw, incredibly dominating in the OK Final, deserve the warmest congratulations.
