The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team is excited to confirm its Junior Programme line-up for 2023.

In 2023, the OK-N will take a new step when it adapts the qualities of the OK to national competitions. Offering a single basis for a reliable, high-performance and more accessible category can only broaden the base of competitors in all countries of the world by simplifying racing in many respects. It is an exceptional new asset in the hands of National Sporting Authorities to develop karting.     

The FIA Karting's presentation of the OK-N category in the second half of 2022 has received a lot of attention around the world. It is a pleasant surprise to see the interest in this new opportunity on the North American continent. It is possible that the OK-N's first competition appearance will soon be in the USA as part of the winter Challenge of the Americas series.

The Italian tyre manufacturer LeCont has been one of the suppliers for international events such as the FIA Kart World and European Championships for several years. In Germany, Pro Kart in Wackersdorf takes over the import and is now building up a nationwide distribution network.

Last October, the FIA World Motor Sport Council approved the introduction of the International Karting Ranking from 2023 onwards.

During the awards ceremony for the 2022 FIA season, the President of the FIA Karting Commission Akbar Ebrahim reminded us that karting is an essential step for drivers wishing to gain experience at an early age with the ambition of developing later in motor sport, as well as being a discipline in its own right that is widely practised by many drivers throughout the world.

The official sporting programme for the new season has been completed, with 20 drivers lined up in the MINI, OKJ, OK and KZ/KZ2 categories, in the main international competitions.

The factory team will compete in all 4 major classes: KZ, KZ2, OK and OKJ. Riccardo Longhi, 2021 FIA Karting KZ European Champion, Pedro Hiltbrand, FIA Karting World and European Champion, and Giuseppe Palomba, multiple WSK winner, have been confirmed in KZ.

At its meeting on 7th December 2022 in Bologna, Italy, the FIA World Motor Sport Council took the following decisions based on the proposals of the International Karting Commission. Change of venue for the last event of the 2023 FIA European Karting Championships - OK & OK-Junior

Launched in 2020 by promoter RGMMC, the Champions of the Future series has become a must for the best international drivers and teams. Some of the biggest names in the world have already won the competition, some of them now in single-seaters. In 2023, the Champions of the Future Euro Series will be held over five meetings optimally spread between March and September. Based on the FIA Karting regulations, the next season promises to be rich in quality and quantity in the OK and OK-Junior categories, with its calendar aligned with that of the European and World Championships!

It has been talked about since the beginning of the OK-N project, and the OKN-Junior is now a reality. Full-scale tests have enabled the CIK-FIA to validate the definition of the OKN-Junior engine to extend the OKN's field of action to younger drivers as easily as possible, with a simple exhaust flange. A single engine unit can therefore power drivers in both categories of the most accessible competition offered by the CIK-FIA for national markets.

Swedish, 18 years old, Viktor Gustafsson is the new KZ World Champion, the top shifter class of international karting. He started racing in karting at the age of 5 and like many children who dream of becoming the best in this sport, he followed a path of sporting growth that soon took him outside the borders of Sweden, to face international competitions and this year, in his first season as a CRG official driver, on September 4th he has won the most important race of his career up to now at Le Mans: the FIA ​​World Championship KZ.

Taking advantage of the publicity around the Mondokart.com FIA Karting World Championship OK and OK-Junior, the CIK-FIA organised a press conference on Saturday, 17th September, in the presence of the FIA Karting Commission President Akbar Ebrahim, his Vice President John Ryan, the head of karting of the Italian Sporting Authority, ACI Sport, Raffaele Giammaria, and the FIA Karting technical delegate, Karl Janda. The subject was the development of OK-N.

The FIA Karting World Championship - OK and OK-Junior took place this year in Italy, at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli in Sarno. The weather conditions alternated between a dry and wet track at the beginning of the meeting before concluding in sunny conditions. The competition proved to be very demanding for the machines and for the drivers, especially with regard to the new track surface.

Sodi Racing Team's brilliant season continues! In the OK-Junior World Championship, several drivers equipped with the very competitive Sodi-TM Racing package fought at the front. In the Final, the honours went to the young Hungarian Adam Hideg, who crossed the finish line in 2nd place. British driver Nathan Tye came close to placing a second Sodi chassis on the podium!

After two very convincing days of testing on Thursday and Friday for Birel ART, the rain arrived and overshadowed the Timed Qualifying. In the World Championship, the Italian team's drivers were unable to match their performance levels and had to fight their way back up the field during the Qualifying phase. The 42 positions gained by Harley Keeble in OK and the 66 places gained by Kirill Kutskov in OK-Junior allowed Birel ART to finish this difficult World Championship at the foot of Vesuvius in style, with excellent lap times!

Historic success for their Tony Kart Racer 401 RR at the FIA Karting World Championship in Sarno, Italy. Enzo Tarnvanichkul wins the 2022 title in the Junior category of single-gear karts, while Tuukka Taponen becomes vice-champion in the OK class.
