The first round of the 2026 WSK Euro Series took place from 11th to 14th February at the Leopard Circuit in Viterbo, Italy. Marked by extreme weather conditions, alternating between heavy rain, sunny spells and variable temperatures, this event highlighted the technical versatility of the chassis and the responsiveness of the teams. In a tight field, the Sodi Racing Team and CPB Sport were able to make the most of every opportunity over the weekend, confirming their solid performance level and consistent presence at the forefront of KZ2.
KZ2: Technical domination and success for CPB Sport
The premier class was the scene of a performance demonstration for Sodikart chassis, which equipped eight of the 12 drivers entered. Max Orlov (Sodikart) marked the start of the meeting by taking pole position in the rain (1'04''556). He then won his three Qualifying Heats and set the weekend record on a dry track in Heat 3 with a time of 51''591.
The Final confirmed the competitiveness of Team CPB Sport. Dion Van Werven, who started from 3rd position, took the lead on the first lap and led all 12 laps. He won with a lead of more than five seconds and set the fastest lap of the Final with 1'04''237. His team-mate Jenson Graham, winner of the Prefinal, officially finished in 2nd place. Despite a fairing penalty that reclassified him in 3rd position, Max Orlov completed a podium entirely composed of Sodikart factory chassis. Also noteworthy was the 5th place finish of Kaloyan Varbitzaliev, who put in a remarkable performance at the front of the Prefinal for nine laps.
Mini U10 and GR3: Promising speed indicators
In the Mini categories, the drivers showed great potential despite challenging racing conditions due to the weather. In Mini U10, Britain's Albert Pharoah had a solid Final, gaining seven positions on the first lap to reach 4th place, before an incident and a fairing penalty relegated him to 13th place.
In a very competitive Mini GR3 category with 51 entrants, Alfie Garrett stood out for his consistency from the Qualifying Heats, finishing in 7th place. Further back on the grid in 29th position, Arthur Pharoah made one of the most impressive advances, gaining eight places in the A-B heat to finish in 7th place. Amine Pantoli, who qualified 16th, showed steady progress throughout the weekend.
Outlook
This first round of the WSK Euro Series confirms the effectiveness of Sodikart equipment in conditions of poor grip. In KZ2, Dion Van Werven takes the lead in the championship after this victory. The team is now focusing on optimising consistency in the Mini category, in order to translate the pure speed seen in Viterbo into concrete results in the upcoming rounds of the season.
