For four days, the Algarve International Karting Circuit in Portimao vibrated to the rhythm of the KZ, KZ2 and KZ Master karts at a meeting eagerly awaited by competitors. The drivers and teams were able to work in a variety of weather conditions, gathering a wealth of data and gaining a much better understanding of the Portimao track. Many of the drivers were taking part in a Champions of the Future event for the first time and appreciated the professionalism of the organisation put in place by RGMMC. On a warm and sunny day of southern Portugal, Frenchman Jérémy Iglesias won the KZ class, Romanian Daniel Vasile won the KZ2 class and Frenchman Anthony Abbasse dominated the KZ Master class.

The DKM entourage once again travelled to the Arena E in Mülsen for the fifth event and experienced a highly exciting weekend. The German Kart Championship was already a guest at the 1,315 metre-long Arena E in Mülsen for the season opener. 186 drivers took on the midsummer temperatures. A preliminary title decision was possible in several classes, but some favourites faltered.

After a brief summer break, the action now comes thick and fast in the German Kart Championship, with two events in the next four weeks. The world-famous Erftlandring in Kerpen hosts the next round of races. The 1,107-kilometre racetrack became recognised around the world thanks to seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher. It was in Kerpen that he cut his teeth on the motorsport scene. He was followed by his brother Ralf and four-time champion Sebastian Vettel, who also began their careers in Kerpen.

The finals produced new winners in three classes: Markus Kajak (DKM), Dion van Werven (DSKC) and Zdenek Babicek (DMKM) claimed their first win of the season. Moritz Groneck (DJKM), Lars Ramaer (X30 Junior) and Elia Weiss (X30 Senior), on the other hand, repeated their success from Ampfing.

We look back at yesterday, when the 2022 RMC Grand Finals were truly opened via the Welcome Briefing in the morning. 394 drivers received their brand new karts through the customary raffle on the main start-finish straight underneath the beautifully sunlit Portuguese skyline. Along with that, drivers would also head to the nearby Autodromo Internacional do Algarve for the mandatory briefings that afternoon, with the paddock tent being a busy hive of activity all day long as the brand-new karts would be prepared fully, with every nut and bolt tightened and fastened.

The Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Golden Trophy took place once again last weekend at Karting Genk in Belgium. 181 competitors from 26 nations dueled at the demanding ‘Home of Champions’ and delivered exciting racing in the alternating weather conditions. In the evening, five class winners were celebrated on the podium. In addition, three drivers were awarded their tickets for the upcoming RMC Grand Finals in Portimao, Portugal, at the last moment.
