WSK Super Master Series Rd.1 - timing practices and qualifying heats at Adria (I)

The first protagonists of WSK Super Master Series came to the fore at the Adria Karting Raceway in qualifying practice: Ogaard (DK - TONY KART-VORTEX OK), Ferrari (I - R.RIDOLFI-TM OKJ) and Irfan (GB - PAROLIN-TM 60MINI).

The first act on stage: WSK Super Master Series at its opener.

Stopwatches have been ticking today for WSK Super Master Series that is underway with its first of four rounds. The Adria Karting Raceway has staged in fact qualifying today for the 186 drivers that passed scrutineering, before continuing with the initial qualifying heats in the afternoon. Drivers presence is quite remarkable again, as a lot of drivers gathered in Adria from all over the world hunting the victory in an exciting and restless series of events. The four appointments spanning February and March will award points with a well tested increasing scoring scheme that will not include jokers. All points will be valid for the final ranking and will be awarded starting from Saturday’s pecking order at the end of heats and then at the end of Prefinals and Finals. The opener of Adria has OK, OK Junior and 60 Mini on track, that will be joined by KZ2 in Lonato and Sarno.

Appointment with the live streaming.

The appointment for Motorsport fans far from racetracks is with the spectacular live streaming by WSK Promotion on Sunday on the website wsk.it. In Adria, on Sunday, February 3rd, racing action will be covered live starting from Prefinals at 10:30. These races will be followed by the 2019 newly-devised Final B for those drivers of categories 60 Mini and OK Junior that could not qualify for the Finals. The much-awaited Finals will follow in the afternoon with green lights going off at 14:00.

Initial results of qualifying practice.

Sebastian Ogaard (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) is a new entry in the top places of the WSK classifications. In a winterly weather, colder than what welcomed the WSK event held last week in Adria, the Dane posted the quickest time in OK, completing his best lap in 1’03”229s. Behind him, the Russian Aleksey Sizov (Tony Kart-TM) and the Scot Dexter Patterson (KR-Iame) ended in this order. The winner of the WSK Champions Cup held last week, the Brit Taylor Barnard (KR-Iame) is currently lagging behind and is called to bounce back tomorrow. In OK Junior the Italian Paolo Ferrari (Righetti Ridolfi-TM-Vega) has been the quickest in 1’04”948s and led the Russian Nikita Bedrin (Tony Kart-Vortex) and the Pole Tymoteusz Kucharczyk (Parolin-TM). In 60 Mini, the Brit Coskun Irfan (Parolin-TM-Vega) confirmed his speed and was the fastest in 1’09”954s. He was followed in the charts by the Italian Manuel Scognamiglio (Tony Kart-TM) and the Russian Maksimilian Popov (Parolin-TM).

Confirmations and surprises in qualifying heats.

The Dutch driver Dilano Van T’Hoff (Exprit-TM) made a move in qualifying heats that followed practice. He won the opening race leading the Swede Dino Beganovich (Tony-Vortex). A similar strategy was followed by the Russian Kirill Smal, who won the following heat from the French Sami Meguetounif (both on Tony-Vortex). In OKJ Kucharczyk got off to a good start too as he won the first heat from the Dutch Robert De Haan (Energy-TM). The Spanish driver Joseph Martì (Tony-Vortex) won the second heat leading the Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR-Iame). The British driver William Macintyre (Tony-Vortex) won from Irfan in 60 Mini instead. A victory went also to the Arab Emirates’ driver Rashid Al Dhaheri (Parolin-TM), who led Popov, while the Russian Kirill Kutskov (Energy-TM) won one heat and the Swede Joel Bergstrom (Parolin-TM) was second.
